Blumpkin:
The copies of Xenoblade that GS is selling are not "used".

For sure. I've previously expressed how I would pay $100 for this game if I didn't already own it.

The question is, if GameStop intentionally constrained supply in order to sell the game for a higher price at a later date, would they have had a hand in creating the demand?

As usual Alpha has something to say.

I kinda find it funny how people think Gamestop should not sell a game for market value.

I don't agree with them opening up a new game so that they can sell it as "used" at a higher price.

They are just trying to circumvent the MSRP on an item and are being greedy.

The market price is high because supply is low.

If they were to release these new copies at the MSRP of $50 then the market price would drop and more gamers could experience the game at a reasonable price.

Also, with the Wii U struggling for sales and the Xenoblade sequel being one of the few possible system sellers, you would think Nintendo would release it as a player's choice title at $20 or $30 to build hype for the sequel and sell some Wii Us

It also sets a bad precedent for the future as Gamestop could purposefully order fewer copies of an initial run and manufacture a supply shortage.

Then they could just make more "used" copies and charge ridiculous prices for them.

I already have a PAL copy of the game and a modded Wii so it doesn't affect me at all but I think it's another strike against Gamestop ... I try and avoid those places like the plague as much as possible.
