Exactly. What's on the radar after N64 eh Valeman?

To be honest I'm not really sure.

I still want to see the PAL N64 game covers finished as well. I sold the N64 to get the Wii so it's hard finding an incentive to buy N64 games only to lose money reselling them again though. I do have a PSX so I might keep my eyes open for cheap games for that to contribute covers towards that project too.

The big thing tugging at my gaming loins at present is the idea of building myself an arcade cabinet .... and that will cost a fair bit both in time and money. I want it to use an arcade LCD monitor and those aren't cheap at all. That way I can rig one side to use original arcade PCB's while on the other side I can rig up a MAME PC .... best of both worlds. I've started down the path by purchasing some original arcade artwork .... marquee's etc ...

It's going to be a long term project though due to the costs.... mainly the moniter etc...

Why do you want to go LCD? I built a 4 player cabinet two years ago and it was considered blasphemy for anyone to not use an ArcadeVGA card and a Multisync CRT monitor like the Wells Gardner or Betson Imperial.

I sold that cabinet when we purchased the new house and plan on building a 2 player cabinet to replace it. I think the Betson set me back $400 at the time.

I live in New Zealand .... at the edge of the world .... so Wells Gardner isn't a name on our vocabulary here. I had an old Japanese Jamma arcade machine with a 19" vertical monitor but the problem was I could only use in one direction as the screen went funny colours due to the magnetic issues.

As you can now get 19" LCD open frame multisync monitors now I though that would solve that particular problem once and for all. The fact you can plug a Jamma/arcade harness directly into it as well as VGA means I can still use arcade pcbs as well as the PC. If I want to go bigger I guess I'll have to look at a normal LCD monitor although that means dropping arcade pcb support in favor of MAME only ... not something I want to do but pricing may yet become a factor.

I am mulling whether to build a Gauntlet 4 player horizontal cabinet [I have specs for that] or a 2 player vertical cabinet based on the Taito chassis [ I'm trying to get dimensions for that at present] as I have original marquees for Top Gunner and Twin Cobra along with a Top Gunner CPO and PCB. Choices .... choices ....

Wow I have to look into these LCDs, the CRT monitor was awesome for getting the arcade identical graphics on most classics, but I never rotated it for vertical games either, there was a supported resolution which was a good enough compromise.

My first cabinet was a 4 player cabinet designed to support Gauntlet and the 4 player beat em ups such as TMNT, but 4 people rarely played it and I find a certain elegance in a cabinet where the width of the control panel fits within the sides rather than extends out.

Here is an unfinished photo of my old cabinet, I dont have any finished photos anymore but I added a working 4 slot coin door to it.

I was solely interested in MAME/Daphne/Zinc though so didn't have the JAMMA concerns. The monitors I mentioned have a standard VGA attachment.

If I had the space though I'd love to have replicas of the actual arcade machines for a lot of machines, APB, Dragons Lair, etc.

Good luck with your project and have fun.

Posted scans for labels of Ogre battle 64 and Road Rash 64.  Road Rash is a bit rough and would have to be "touched up" significantly.  For Ogre Battle 64 use the one labeled Ogrebattle64_label2.  The other scan did not get sized down.

I just uploaded some scans for :

N64 Cart Labels - U.S.

Fighting Force 64
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Mortal Kombat Trilogy

They all seem near perfect and were scanned at 600dpi.  They'll just need a little cropping.

I thought we had the US N64 covers completed?  Where is the cover for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys?

It was thought so, but later it was found that other games existed. We're still so damn close, it may as well be complete. Consider that some of the later games might have had a low print run and we might never find a good enough box to scan.

We're also missing the covers for:

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
NBA Courtside 2 featuring Kobe Bryant

From all the info I have/can find these, and the aforementioned Hercules are the last 3 that we need to finish the US N64 covers.

We have Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

It must have somehow disappeared in the site revamp because I have a copy of the cover on my HDD. Looking at it as I write this  :)

I've just procurred, what looks to be from the pictures, a near mint Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in a lot I just won on the ebay.  I'll get it scanned and uploaded once I receive it.  So with that and the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker that Valeman claims to have on his hdd ;D, the only US cover we'll be missing is NBA Courtside 2 featuring Kobe Bryant.

All right I just won a $6.00 complete "near mint" (according to the description, no pictures) NBA Courtside 2 featuring Kobe Bryant.  So this should be the last one needed for the US N64 covers section in less someone can prove to me that there were other US N64 games actually released that I don't know about.  Fat bloody chance.  >:(

Good stuff Doublebuddy  ;D

I uploaded the Batman Beyond - Return of the Joker cover.

Really weird .... I had to create the title so maybe it never was on here originally as I aren't aware of titles getting dropped off after Snowcone transferred the site. That raises the question ....where did I get it? I honestly haven't got a clue!!!!
