Contra III question
FritzWhite:
I already have the snes Contra. Mine's the fat; checked it after looking at this thread. I think I'll have to pick up Hard Corps for the Genesis though. I've never been a Sega guy, but with the Retron5 coming out I figured I'd get a few games for it.
Just picked up my first lot of 9 Genesis games (5 carts, 4 CIB) off Craigslist for $20 (came with a model 3 system too!) on Saturday. Mortal Kombat reminded me of the jealousy I felt towards my best friend in the 90s over his Sega version having the fatalities and gore while my SNES was so censored that even the blood was changed to grey sweat. Am I rambling? Whoops.
One more ramble.. Another thing I like about the Genesis that was just reiterated in a collector's game room video I recently watched is how much less expensive it is compared to SNES. I love SNES, it's what I grew up with, but prices are insane. I'm really more of a player than a collector and as much as I'd like to play Demon's Crest or Ninja Warrior on the cart, current prices are tough to swallow. I'll be picking them up anyway after I get a couple other SNES games I really want like TMNT4:TIT and Mega Man X.
But yeah, games like Contra Hard Corps for $15-30 cart prices seem to be the exception rather than the rule. It's usually cheaper for Sega and I could def get used to that.

I approve this message. Usually a run of the mill SNES game is equal to 3 run of the mill Mega Drive games. Gunstar Heroes seems to be the odd exception though. Before I picked it up, it was usually running for anywhere between 50-100 Euro. I have made myself a promise, that being I won't spend over 50 Euro for a single game unless its new. Obviously I was over the fucking moon when I found Gunstar Heroes for 30-something Euro in Dublin.
Game chasing is a tad bit harder/more expensive here in Europe (specifically Ireland).
