Is it just me or do SNES vertical look alot more crisp than retail?

I prefer horizontal, but verticals looks good, i'm more with the original look.
Retro Deckades:
I prefer horizontal as well (I like things to be as close to original as possible), but being an organizational freak, I've always been envious of the unified spines of the vertical layout.
I would be 100% in favour of a unified spine system for horizontal SNES covers. It wouldn't even have to be anything fancy -- perhaps just the game title at the top and the gray SNES logo on the bottom, with the publishers name just above that. Some of the SNES covers already have this!
If it were to happen, I would simply print out the spines and slide them over top of the already existing covers that are in the cases, as I couldn't bring myself to use that much ink all over again.

Or you can just copy-paste the Vertical cover's spine on to Horizontal cover... ;)

I actually had this debate with my wife when my first box of UGCs came in. At first I was all for keeping everything (N64 included) as close to retail as possible, but there are a TON of really bad horizontal covers. My wife talked me into using vertical covers (and everyone I asked opinions from agreed that they looked better), so I went that route and never looked back. They look FANTASTIC, and it makes me feel like I have the equivalent of a rental library in my house. Very professional looking.
At this point, even if a more unified horizontal system was established, I would probably stay the course with verticals. Not only have I come to enjoy their look more than retail horizontals, but my entire collection has already been printed in the vertical format and I have no desire to re-print 100+ different covers.

I considered that at one time, Arseen, but there are too many wrap-around lines on the vertical SNES covers for it to look good as a whole.
