As someone who is a novice at creating covers, resorting to making my own templates and covers (I don't understand why this seems to be frown upon?), rather than "putting up" with NTSC covers that I don't particularly want to display my games in (call me fussy/picky if you wish), I find this thread rather repetitive with no grand purpose, coming across as a dick swinging contest, like a pointless battle of the Titans. The main issues this thread seems to be trying to tackle, is the fact that the uploads using Shenske's templates, are not of a high enough standard, and that there are a hand full of administrators that individually judge a submitted covers quality, rather than analyzing the covers together, as a collective team. That's what its coming across as. I have no idea who the cover admins are anymore, and honestly I don't particularly care. To me, they are all obviously worth their salt, creating brilliant covers for the site, but with that said, they do value their own individual opinion very highly. Rather than coming together as a group and voting on covers that make the cut, things are done by one person and half ass'd. It is an issue. Leadership without a team environment is like a dog chasing a parked car (pointless). Maybe on a Friday night, twice a month they could get together on Skype, selecting the covers that make the cut? Now onto the issue of people not creating covers to a high enough standard. I think this a pretty fucking mute issue to raise, due to the fact, that nothing is being done to educate your user base how to create high quality covers. Unless your willing to spend your own time helping your user base to get up to a level where their work is suffice, its a mute point. I personally would love to get better at making covers, which is what I'm attempting to do at the moment by creating my own covers. I wouldn't dare attempt to make covers using the sites templates, due to the fact, I know I'm not yet good enough, wasting both my own, and the admins time. I would love to try and get more PAL covers onto the site, as quite frankly, no one seems to be bothered about making PAL covers. There is an extreme NTSC bias. I know that this isn't a job for any of the admins. None of them are being payed. They do what they do for the site to help expand and better this place we all love so much. I appreciate them and their work wholeheartedly. |
