I got a PC engine that was given to me because it did not work. They gave me an AC Adapter, a controller, an AV booste, and two games. I plugged the mini-beast in, and nothing...so I opened it up and noticed the fuse was gone, and the Voltage Regulator was gone, did some quick research on what VR it needed, and grabbed one out of a broken SNES I had laying around. Free PC Engine, with 2 games, one of which I can not play as it is an RPG and I do not speak Japanese. The person told me it was modded to play TG-16 games, so I have one on the way...a cheap game (Keith Courage) to see if it's true. Upon re-opening the unit, I see no evidence of a mod, so it's a vanilla PC Engine. |

Picked up these guides and a whole bunch of loose manuals this weekend :) |

I have been scoffing at the notion of strategy guides for a while because there is no point with all of that info on the internet. But, I have been seeing some recently for pretty cheap and might have to buy some just for collecting sake. I think your pic just confirmed it for me, now I have to start collecting them. |

I used to think that too. But yes, these were cheap. About $5-7 each. And the Metroid Prime 3 one has extra stuff like a poster in it that are cool. But I will use them. I've found in playing games that I need a guide for, it's a hassle to be using my laptop and constantly searching for what I'm looking for. With the book being tangible and a complete guide, it's all right there literally at my fingertips. Easier to handle while actually playing the game. And, again, they look cool (the MP3 one especially)! |
