Yeah, my logo is a bit busy for the main attraction, but I still think the plain text is kinda boring, It needs a extra something. Maybe hide mine in the BG or something.
This preview is a little bit sloppy, Gradients, Drop shadows, and Bevels everywhere. But I think the brighter color scheme is a bit more inviting. I added Blue, Oranges complement, to help bring out some more color. I also thought as I was making it to have the grids dividing everything look like shelves.
This is more of a idea and needs more tweaks, but I kinda like where it is heading.
I like the font, Futra MdCn something, same font used on old GB boxes.
This is Great You should use this layout of yours to Make a Flash Game site Cause it has a Very Active look to it, and I think it would Fit a Flash Game Site Extremely well

I hate to create any critical posts but I dislike the milk carton.
If we stick with snacks, then why not a slice of pumpkin pie? :-D
lol. I always think of pumkin pie when I see the color scheme.
I drew a logo with my mouse (I'm very bad with a mouse):

I call him whippy (for whip cream pumpkin pie.)

I like Larry's art. very creative. Could be used for many things but not a logo.
awesome work, Larry. I like it alot.

I like the site as it is but change is good.
are you using html5? just wondering.

Little late with the logo idea  :P, like the milk bottle

Here is what i was thinking for logo, made it quick just to let you see the idea, not high resolution etc.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/lycckv4q7iyxmlu/esrb_game_ratings_system.jpg

That's very cool. I like that. I'll find a place to use that if you can make it vector or high res.

Little problem there  :P, don't know how to use vector and don't have the program in my computer. maybe some one will like to do it in vector and send it to you. or i can do it in photoshop but don't know if it will work for you in that format.

Photoshop as fine as long as the resolution/image size is suitably high enough

The milk carton is the logo for my other site, Snackbar Games, and wasn't in my original design. I'm fine with a departure from the snack logos. As for the site, html is html. There are no specific HTML5 features I was planning on rolling out. The site is a custom application that I wrote in haste to build a separate brand for this place and I've been trying to relaunch with a more feature rich system and a new layout for something like 5 years. Thus this thread is my latest attempt to do justice to the best cover site on the internet. :)

I think if the site is going to get a new symbol or logo, it should look like a stack of cases lined up next to each other, as if it were sitting on a bookshelf. The spines could be in different colors, and maybe line up to display the letters TCP, like it was a collection of related games, similar to the designs in the custom spine threads.

As for the site itself, I think blue with orange accents would work wonders. I like the larryinc64 mockup, but I think mostly blue with pops of orange would work better.

Thanks ;D, I was thinking on making another just with one square, "THE COVER PROJECT" in the first line, in the center "TCP" and in the bottom the "CONTENT RATED BY THECOVERPROJECT.NET" but i think it would be to much for one square

Blue with orange is a great idea. They look awesome together.

I was considering a Blue with Orange highlights color scheme, But left it orange, I may make a second cleaner mockup, and I'll see how that works.

On the topic of Cover Uploads, I think we need to change it as well, It seems like a very slow process, I uploaded a couple, few made it on, and the ones that did went up a long time after I submitted them. I posted a bunch of my 3DS covers a while ago and nothing happened yet. If there are problems, how does the cover maker know? I'm unsure if they were rejected or still pending. Also THIS COVER belongs HERE.

Also put somewhere MORE COVERS AVAILABLE IN THE FORUMS.

I'd like to echo Larry's sentiments; a glimpse into the selection process would be nice, or something. I've uploaded a number of covers that I thought were really good but still haven't appeared on the site, and then sometimes I'll see something get uploaded to the forums and then basically immediately uploaded to the site proper the next day, if not within hours. It's really disheartening to see (even though I know it's not personal), especially when I have no idea why my covers never get posted because I'm never told what's wrong with them or how I can improve them, or even if there's nothing wrong with them but they're at the end of a long queue.

Perhaps some kind of feedback system could be implemented where the person who submits the cover gets an "anonymous" response from the Admin team (ie: sender unknown on the user's end, but logs kept on the Admin's end) letting them know the status of their submission. If it's been rejected, the person should know why so they can try to fix the problem. If it's been accepted, a simple heads-up would suffice.

Just my thoughts.

I too agree that covers should get uploaded and be available in some kind of searchable and downloadable form before they are "approved".  Such covers could be in a separate area or be clearly marked, but this would be invaluable for people like me who don't need a perfect cover, or for others who are really good at touching up unfinished covers.
