Hey guys, I'm a pretty big fan of The Walking Dead, both the Comics, TV Series, and Tell Tales game. Lately I've been thinking about investing in the novels, The Rise of the Governor, and The Road to Woodbury. I'm just wondering has anyone read these books and if so, would you recommend them? I'd love to see the full story, but for 200 - 300 pages later and a tenner less in my pocket, is it really worth reading the books?

A friend of mine (who's not even a book reader, just a big walking dead fan) picked up The Rise of the Governor and said he really enjoyed it!

Cool! Thanks guys. I'm glad to hear that there both decent. I'm not much of a reader and went out on a whim when I bought the first compendium. I just loved The Walking Dead so much, I said it was worth trying out the comic. I'm at issue 109 at the moment (don't spoil anything please!), and since the next trade paper back won't be out for another 4 or 5 months, roughly, I thought I'd try the books between now and then.

Thanks guys! I'll probably pick them up during the week. :)

EDIT : Actually guys, I have another question relating to the comics. You guys know of anywhere that I can keep up to date with new comic, trade paper backs, and novel releases for The Walking Dead?

Just bought The Rise of the Governor for 6 Euro. It should be here next week.  :)

I'm looking forward to reading it! I hope it sparks more of an interest in reading. I have always wanted to get into reading, but usually half way through the book, I loose interest. For example, Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield, I read 3 quarters of that book, but for whatever reason, I just got bored of it. I went from loving the absolute shit out of that book, to being terribly bored of it in a matter of 1 chapter.  >:(

I hope this book sparks a long lasting love for reading books. I like listening to audio books, in particular, The Help, Angels and Demons, How to Kill a Mocking Bird.

I also have a interest in Max Brooks World War Z. I read the first few pages on Amazon and was hooked! Totally different from the movie. The movie looks crap! Athlete Zombies never caught my interest, bar 28 Days later Zombies, but I think I just love that movie because it was filmed where I grew up and to me, the film is a piece of art.

Went completely off topic there. LOL.

I never got into The Walking Dead, though my girlfriend loved it. Haven't seen World War Z. Not a huge zombie fan, but the track star zombies from 28 Weeks Later and Dawn of the Dead are pretty scary :o

I don't if I'm late to the party, but I just saw that the third and final book in the series is on Amazon. Old news?
