I play Link to the Past annually and figured I should try the other games out.

I love the idea of playing the original game on original hardware, however, I can't stand the N64 controller so if the GC version is the same game with but I can play with a Wavebird and in better resolution on my big TV then I may go that route.

Are there any significant content changes in the GC port?

Depends which version you play. I'm pretty sure the 4 in 1 collectors edition is a direct port, while the special edition version of Wind Waker had some minor changes, and Master Quest; which was Ocarina of Time with some drastic changes to the dungeons.

IIRC, both Gamecube releases of OoT are identical. They run at a higher framerate and resolution than the N64 versions were capable of. Other than that, the only differences between them and the final N64 version (1.2) are:

1) Changes to dialog and icons to reflect the button differences (ie Z-Targetting is now L-Targetting, the B and A buttons in the HUD are now red and green instead of green and blue, etc)

2) The Gerudo crescent-moon-and-star symbol found on various blocks, buttons, the Mirror Shield, etc. has been switched out for a different symbol because Nintendo is afraid of Muslims or something ::)

3) The core of the Morpha boss has had its texture changed. Still looks like an organic ball thing. This seems to be a shader issue or something, because even emulating the N64 versions causes this change.
