Even at $400 Sony is losing money with each unit sold. If you're going to let the lack of backwards compatibility prevent you from playing next gen games, good luck to you. --- End quote --- How certain are you with that statement? PS3 and PS4 hardware are only improvements, barely any changes. --- End quote --- I think the architectures of PS3 and PS4 are completely different. If I understood correctly PS3 is 7 cores Cell prosessor, where as PS4 is closer to PC hardware. |

Like Arseen mentioned, different micro-architecture and that's why they won't be able to. At least I know they can't now rather than they won't. I just hope they figure something out eventually for us dudes with a collection of physical games rather than buying digital copies - I mean, keeping all the consoles wouldn't be that bad if I wasn't going to be getting 10 xboxs' and 10 playstations by the time I'm 40. Just imagine all the wiring .... |

Why would they come up with backwards compatibility. Only game resellers (and players) would benefit from that. For them it would be triple negative: Eat sales of new games, would lessen the buying of the re-releases of the old games and would directly cost them money in making the hardware BC. |

I believe the Wii was the very first mainstream console to be sold at profit from day one. |
