What Impact: Sega Edition

I was just looking through Google for any other titles that I have missed for my Sega want list. At the moment I only collect for the Megadrive, though I am tempted to start collecting for the Dreamcast. Anyway, while I was searching I was thinking to myself, "why are Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo so content with providing their fan base with the bare minimum?"  I initially thought maybe it's due to their lack of competition? If Sega released a new console that could rival the success of the Megadrive, maybe Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would pick up their game? How would a new Sega console impact the market?

What do you guys think?

Now I understand fully that the chance of this happening is null to fuck all, but let's say it happened. After further contemplation, I'm pretty confident nothing would change in the market, because I think the current trend of the market is to release the bare minimum, for the least amount of expense, for the maximum amount of profit, rather than making the best game possible. I dont think a new Sega console would usher in a new mindset.

Anyways, what do you think?

I have seen a lot of speculation concerning the Spectrum.  Whereas I doubt it is a new home console, I still hesitate to use the word, never.

Reason is back in the early nineties I was an avid reader of Gamepro magazine.  One reader question at the time didn't stand out then but now looking back....

The gist of it was the reader wrote in asking why Sega wouldn't release a Sonic game on a Nintendo console and why wouldn't Nintendo release a Mario game on a Sega console. The reply was your basic.  Sega/Nintendo rivalry, blah, blah, blah.  The last line of the reply is what gets me today when he stated you would never see a Sonic game on a Nintendo console, period.  Turn of the millennium threw that right out the window.  So maybe not tomorrow.  Maybe not next year but hey, it could happen.

Tails = Banana.
Amy = Peach.
Knuckles = Strawberry.
Shadow = Chocoloate.
Silver = Vanilla.
Jet = Apple.
Tikal = Orange.

Would be awesome!

Well Amy is pink so I went with peach, and Knuckles is red, so strawberries are red. Meh. LOL. Would be fucking awesome though.
