| Buying new 72-pin connectors for NES |
| (1/1) |
| kittybones26:
Can anyone give any advice for where to buy the better quality 72-pin connectors to rehab a few model 1 NES systems? Research has shown there are many junky ones out there....and my experience buying one has allowed my system to last about a year before a now and I guess a one is needed to be installed. The cartridge slot will allow slight wiggling around and there are vertical lines streaming down the tv screen when I turn the system on. No blinking light and you can somewhat see the gameplay. All of my games contacts are very clean....scrubbed, polished and cleaned with the usuals for shiny contacts. Who has had decent experience buying new connectors that won't need replacing after a year? Where? What do you look for to know they aren't of inferior quality? Thanks! |

The first thing you absolutely must make sure of is that you get one of the connectors that is made in Taiwan and NOT the ones made in China. For some reason, the "Made In Taiwan" ones seem to much better in terms of longevity and functionality. You will run into a "bad egg" every now and again, even from the Taiwan ones, but the failure rate is much lower than the Chinese ones. I've gone through about 25 new connectors while doing my custom NES sets in the past year and without question, the "Made In Taiwan" ones are far superior to their Chinese counterparts. As far as where to get them, I can offer two place that I've used and know for a fact they sell the good ones... eBay Seller videogamesource http://www.ebay.com/itm/370416522396?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D370416522396%26_rdc%3D1 or Nintendo Repair Hut http://www.nintendorepairhut.com/repairsupplies/nesrepairsupplies.html |
