I was playing Halo tonight and it got me thinking how much I truly admire the music in that game.  I also began to realize how much certain music can really pump me up when playing games.  Some songs can just get you on the edge of your seat and ready to engage whatever lies ahead.
For me, 10 songs stand out above the rest.  While there are plenty more, these 10 songs send chills down my spine whenever I hear them.
Some of these are not the most popular songs in their respective franchises, but they're the ones that get my blood pumping the most...also they're the best ones I can think of at 3 a.m.

10. Ken's Theme (Street Fighter II)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-14W5XTqL5U
9.  Blow Me Away (Halo 2 - Gravemind Battle)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1lUwDFsyPw
8.  Song of Storms (Ocarina of Time) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNwjUWKP18c
7.  Sacrifice (Soul Calibur) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Sq2qnD33w
6.  Bloody Tears (Castlevania II)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjazC45Qkww
5.  City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2/Sonic Generations) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKB3BC-LFho
4.  Suicide Mission (Mass Effect 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTsD2FjmLsw
3.  The Moon Theme (Duck Tales) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF32DRg9opA
2.  Metal Man Stage (Mega Man II)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si8HiBgcg_U
1.  Fight On! (Final Fantasy VII - boss fight music)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsLnioY3FVY

A lot of others come close (One Winged Angel, Gerudo Valley, Guile's Theme, The entire Mega Man II soundtrack, any given NES Capcom game, etc.)

So what are the themes/songs that get you psyched up?

all the essentials of course, like koji kondo, nobuo uematsu, miki higashino etc. suikoden series is a favorite (in all aspects). not as many stand-out themes like final fantasy, but every soundtrack is a melting pot of different cultures, whole lotta arabian and irish and hungarian and whatnot. don't wanna link the more important ones cuz youtube comments are full of spoilers. take it as another reason to play these games i you haven't already.

played drakengard last year, that soundtrack is fucking NUTS. thought something was wrong with hdloader but the whole ost is supposed to sound like a broken record. fitting for the oppressive, nihilistic atmosphere of the game.

I love almost anything from Xenoblade Chronicles. That soundtrack is amazing. I put over 150 hours into that game, so I've heard many of those songs over and over again, but I never got sick of them. I have the entire soundtrackthing on my iPod and still throw it on in the background while I work. It really runs the gamut, from beautiful, sweet and melancholy melodies to frantic, upbeat, and grandiose tunes--all of which are befitting of an epic adventure.

Anything Nobuo Uematsu, Jeremy Soule, or Harry Gregson Williams has done. Castlevania has never lacked a decent soundtrack, or at least the games I have played haven't, Rondo of Blood having my favorite soundtrack of the lot that I've played. Far Cry 3, DmC, and Metal Gear Rising all had a decent soundtrack. I'll go through my games and take a proper look to nudge my memory.

Alright

1) Departure on a New Trip (Shenmue II)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNBatWu5WXY

The song just feels adventurous, fit for an epic tale. Its bombastic, fast tempo and fits well with a story that brings the character around the world.

2) Departure for Hope (Shenmue I)
http://youtu.be/wUO93H-4Lmc

On the other side of the spectrum, this song is so calming, fitting the scene it was in, of a man reading the last letter his father wrote to him before his death.

3) The Great Warrior (Final Fantasy VII)
http://youtu.be/lrI8bHs6Qvk

The music of Final Fantasy VII is great, the game is overhyped but the music is great as all hell. The slow tempo is just soothing in this, befitting a dramatic scene of reunion.

4) The Eight Melodies (Mother)
http://youtu.be/vpfPb_dDDpc

The song has alot of emotional weight in this melody, so much so it is used to defeat Giygas and send his ass packing. Its a love song pure and simple.
(I like this animation of it http://youtu.be/XkzAi-Lp9w4)

5) Sacrifices (Actraiser)
http://youtu.be/PdAzreSAmY8

A song made for the death of a man, and in the game is the first song ever. Its a mournful waltz, and it was made in the honor of a lowly man.

6) Woodman (Mega Man 2)
http://youtu.be/YFOuUUR0QX0

Why is this so good? The boss it represents is a tree?

7) Wind Temple Theme (LOZ Windwaker)
http://youtu.be/ROT3tJ11LSg

The song is atmospheric, and musically tied to the dungeon with an extensive use of wind instruments, and other organic sounding instruments to accompany the wind instruments.

8) Bloody Tears (Castlevania)
http://youtu.be/e2oZtvjg5oA

Castlevania II was not so good, but this quick paced song was just great.

9) The Best is Yet to Come (Metal Gear Solid)
http://youtu.be/6miaTf1gF4g

Snake is a tragic hero, Metal Gear is a tragic story. This song, in its tone works with this in mind. Obviously inspired by Celtic music, the song has a charm that does not fail to impress. I wanted to gush at the song during my MGS The Twin Snakes LP but they only play it during the credits and opening cinematic in that version.
My LPs Channel. Currently playing Legend of Zelda: Windwaker HD, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Resident Evil 2.
