Unless they do a 180 with the One's used game policy.  I will not be buying that mess of plastic and silicone that could have served a better purpose.

As an after thought on that.  So much for Gamefly.

I remember that from way back.  Wouldn't be surprised if they did go through with it at this rate.

A point I brought up before, and a good point my friend reminded me of. Once the servers for Xbox One go down, does that mean you'll be able to register anymore games? Will you even be able to play games on the fucking machine?

I hope people have enough sense not to buy this awful box trap. I hope Epic and 343 Industries have the sense and loyalty to their fans, to realize that this is an awfully stupid idea, and try to get out of that contract.

That would be a resounding... no.

Why would they do that?

They can just resell you your Xbox One games on the Xbox Two

The problem with M$ is that although they are a very successful company they only think about the bottom line.  I don't blame companies for this as they have to stay in business and hit financial targets to keep investors happy. My issue is this is all they (investors) focus on.  It's all quantitative measures such as profit, sales, DLC revenue, etc.

They miss the qualitative measures such as public opinion, customer satisfaction, customer experience, ethics, etc.

Their needs to be a balance, but unfortunately, the qualitative measures usually don't help an executive hit their bonus targets since their bonus is likely tied only to financial performance.

I really hope this system tanks hard so that the negative financial impact shows them that being greedy and trying to "nickle and dime" your customers doesn't pay off in the long run.

I suspect it will sell well though because the majority of the market (the people that buy the annual COD, NHL, Madden, etc.) see gaming as consumptive entertainment much like going to a movie.  They don't collect and don't buy games to replay a long time into the future as there will always be the newest installment waiting for them every year.

We're talking about 10 years or so into the future. They would probably just send out a firmware update that would allow you to play games without this process since it would no longer be able to be put online.

You think M$ would do that... fat chance, as they could then not make so much money with Xbox Two. ;)

If it is not backwards compatible which I assume it won't be then there is no money to be made so yeah I think that is exactly what they would do and people will get upset all over again because ten years after the system came out it would finally be the way it should have been the whole time.

Exactly, there's no reason for them to. There's nothing in it for them. Fully expect that sucker to become a brick.

I'll be honest.  Of all the things that bug me about this system, like Used Games, Kinect, the damn TV...backwards compatibility doesn't bother me in the slightest.  Does anyone actually use that after a few months?  I have a fully backwards compatible PS3, and I think I've played 2 games on it.  I always just hook up my PS2 and play with that instead...better controller.  Same thing with Xbox 1..I mean Xbox Classic.  The damn black and white buttons are different for 360 (which wont even play half the games) so again, I just plug in that old, black, 20lb brick.

Let's think about this...in reality, the only system that was ever truly backwards compatible was the PS2.  That's it.
Snes didnt play NES, Genesis/MD didnt play master system, DC didnt play anything else...

The PS2 was it.
And to this day I STILL play my PS1 games predominantly on my PS1

I'm with ya on this one. It's the one serious gamer gripe that I hear all the time and simply don't get.  I seriously couldn't care less. Not to mention that transferring save files isn't always an option when there is BC, and the whole new controller thing like you mentioned.
