Confusing name.

What ever...

Strategaly they did not mention the 3 big questions:

1: Used games?
2: Always online DRM? Doesn't matter much asa my internet is now stable.
3: DLC only games? it has Bluray drive but... ?

Don't care about backwards combatibility for obvious resons.

Yeah they didn't tell the important things... At this pace I'd pick up a new computer before a Wii U, PS4 or XBox One.

Quick we need a Xbox One Covers Section. ::)
Here is a Call of Duty Ghosts Retail Custom PAL Front

The could have given a launch date. Or at least a planned one.

Glad they are sticking with the controller.

Wired got to look at the Xbox one before the conference.

Games install to the HDD meaning that games are restricted to Xbox Live accounts. This means you can't used used games without paying a "fee" that pops up when you don't own the game and try to install it.

Quote
What follows naturally from this is that each disc would have to be tied to a unique Xbox Live account, else you could take a single disc and pass it between everyone you know and copy the game over and over. Since this is clearly not going to happen, each disc must then only install for a single owner.

Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc.

But what if a second person simply wanted to put the disc in and play the game without installing – and without paying extra? In other words, what happens to our traditional concept of a “used game”? This is a question for which Microsoft did not yet have an answer, and is surely something that game buyers (as well as renters and lenders) will want to know.

So, Xbox 1 should always be called "Original Xbox" to keep from being confused I guess. The funny thing is when 360 was announced I saw something that said they didn't want to sound inferior to PS3 by calling their machine Xbox 2 but now Xbox One doesn't sound inferior to Playstation 4? They did say launch is later this year and seems like systems always launch in November so that's a pretty good bet.

I think Germans will save us Europeans at least:

Hopefully The Federation of German Consumer Organizations (VZVB) wins as that would most likely prevent the fee as well.

I don't care about online, I don't want to watch sports on my console, I don't care about Kinect, I don't need to record my gameplay and post it to facebook and twitter ...

I just want the thing to play good games.

Good thing is there's enough in the pipeline for PS3 and lots of older games I still don't have that I could put off getting an Xbox One  or a PS4 until they are very cheap and have built up some decent libraries.

Only thing that could get me to get one would be if FF vs. XIII is renamed XV and available at launch.
