Wired got to look at the Xbox one before the conference.

Games install to the HDD meaning that games are restricted to Xbox Live accounts. This means you can't used used games without paying a "fee" that pops up when you don't own the game and try to install it.

So if there is a fee for used games, what will this do to the game renting market?

Unlike DVDs and Blu-Ray movies that make a "rent" version, currently companies that rent game are in fact renting a retail disc. So if MS is going to charge a "fee" it is likely that this will be the case with rental games too. This means that people that rent a game will have to pay twice, once to the renter and again to MS.

I know that most of us here are collectors and the chances of renting a video game are low, but that is not the case with the general population, like many families out there.

Also this will kill the age old tradition of kids inviting friends over to play video games and having the friend bring some of their games.

BTW.... unrelated to my comment.... Sony stock jumped 10% the moment the MS press conference ended... WHAT DOSE THAT TELL YOU????

I personally hate buying anything used. Gamestop charges $55 for a $60 game, I'll pay the extra $5. Plus I almost always know what I want before they come out so most games I will get the day they release. No one mentions anything about the NFL, well for Americans this could be huge considering for the past decade satellite company DirecTV has had a monopoly on the NFL and charges a ridiculous amount to watch games and a 2 year contract. Blu-ray is amazing and now I no longer need an Xbox and a 3D blu-ray player. I think you guys are just old guys and can't embrace change! Did you not see the comparison video of detail from MW3 and COD Ghost? Huge I mean HUGE difference! I personally will get it on launch!

I will be required to install games to the hard drive and thus marry the games to my machine?  The only way the "disc" could know that it was married is by having the machine check against a database via the web.  So it sounds to me like you MUST have a live account in order to play games at all and that it very likely needs to be connected at least a portion of the time to check for such things ???

Is there no option to stick game in, turn on machine, play game at all anyomore?

I'm going to order my Ouya now...

Nope not any more dear friend. Microsoft wants to force its collective dick down your throat and then thank them for doing so. Plus you must pay a fee to play used games, so after a forced blow job, you must turn around, bend over, and let their drinking buddies (specifically Bungie and Epic) take their turn on you. Man if you think that's bad, wait until Apple stick their ugly fucking nose into the gaming market.
