Dravenae:

I have had 3 PS2's in my lifetime, and 2 PS3's, though in fairness I got the second for free!

Ok, I'm officially confused.

I will be required to install games to the hard drive and thus marry the games to my machine?  The only way the "disc" could know that it was married is by having the machine check against a database via the web.  So it sounds to me like you MUST have a live account in order to play games at all and that it very likely needs to be connected at least a portion of the time to check for such things ???

Is there no option to stick game in, turn on machine, play game at all anyomore?

I'm going to order my Ouya now...

They might keep things similar to how it is now with gold and silver memberships...just as long as even being silver you have it connected to the net.

Also...MS is giving out a $10 voucher on their online store.  If you go to microsoft.com go to "shop" and click on Xbox One you should get a screen where it asks to register your email address to receive a notification to preorder the console.  If you register your email they'll send a voucher code to that email to be used in the store.

I got my code already but due to the huge amount of traffic a lot of people are saying that orders are getting cancelled or aren't going through...so i'm giving it a day or 2 before I try it myself

found this also

keywords though... " there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile."  So there might be issues playing "your" game on someone elses profile

As for the always online, It doesn't really concern me since I have both my xbox and ps3 hardwired to the net so i'm "always connected" already but I did not like the whole "need to sign in an hr a day" thing...if I'm already connected at all times to allow the xbox to do everything while the system is "off" then I just don't understand the need to turn it on and sign on every day.  But I guess this is their way of "forcing" the multimedia aspect of the system and having you connect whatever tv service you have directly to the xbox instead of directly to the tv.
