Drakkhen
SNS-DK-USA retail

The raw scan that i have is low res. The screens are very blurry. I cannot discern fine details, as greaves. The screens may not be 100% retail. I did my best to mock the blurry box scan. Just a tip for scanners: try to scan screens and logos separately. Use a crop tool before scanning - it would be great help.

Thanks and You're Welcome  :)
I am happy to have clean retail screens but I'm not happy with the raw scan of this game box.

By the way, the bottom-left screen has the word whicken spelled with an aitch (whickhen) but a few places in the USA game show whicken spelled without a second aitch. Not sure if it's a misprint.

The screens of the raw scan are too blurry to determine type of greaves on the fighter and scout. The swords appear to be long sword, which is strange because at those levels shown in the screens the weapon should be dragon sword for fighter and scout. odd.

Also, it appears to me that maybe a bow and arrow are used in the top-left screen of the game box. The raw scan is blurry but the weapons do not look like long swords to me. I could use new raws of this game box + screen scans but noone seems to have it. I've started cleaning the box but I only have one raw for this game and it is not so good.

anyway, Enj0y!  ;D

I will be taking a break for now but I will be sharing screens of Ren & Stimpy Fire Dogs, NHL '95 and Brett Hull Hockey '95 soon...

what? lol. no, I do not know where I got my scans. I do not think that my scans of Drakkhen came from here (TCP.) I search Google constantly for raw scans and occassionally, I find some. I found Maui Mallard at a student's university site.

anyway, I would just like to have better raw scans but no big deal. I am picky, I want the retail screens to be exact but it is difficult to do that when the screens are blurry. As long as you like them, then I am happy with them too.

have fun and make some covers for us  ;D

ps. I will finish playing this game (i like it, lol) so maybe I post some extra screens for you. Maybe you could check the thread in the near future for new content ...

change of plans: I've decided to finish the Drakkhen screens by doing Dragon View (Drakkhen 2 or Super Drakkhen.) I am finished with 2 out of 4 and have number 3 ready for editing.

Thanks. I think so too.
I hope to complete the entire snes library.

I have more screens coming but I am sidetracked with Wizard of Oz.
I am restoring the manual but it is a pain in the arse.
I will need more time.
I've typed the manual for a text version, I'm restoring the original and making a custom version, I'm creating a horizontal retail cover, making a label and writing a walkthrough for the game.

I will upload everything soon for all to enjoy ...

They look really good. Are those screens you label retail really 100% accurate to the retail screens on the respective boxes? If yes kudos to you! Who do you choose the screens for the custom ones?

To complete the entire SNES library could be a bit much though. ;)

100% - no. I always try to alert the members as to what is not accurate. I cannot possibly reproduce the screens exactly as they are depicted on the box due to low res scans. Many times I cannot discern fine details. I try to make the screens as close to the originals as possible. As an artist, I will say most of the screens are atleast 80-90% accurate. Some of the screens, to the best of my knowledge, are 100% accurate. I will say half of the screens for each box are 100%. For example, 2 out of four of the dragon view are exactly as they appear on the box.

If you try to reproduce the screens, you will quickly learn that most of the screens are a sort of custom design. Drakkhen 2, for example, is strange. The scorpion is never in the position that is seen in the screen shot. The ball on the back and the sac-like ball on the bottom are only seen like that after defeating it but then the tail is different. Wizard of Oz has custom screens in the manual - Look closely, Dorothy is smaller in one screen than she is in the game. I believe that someone at SETA made the screen by resizing components.

my goal is to make the screens atleast appear to be exact. A good detail-oriented artist will notice minor differences; everyone else will not notice. I promise to always specify differences with each post. Color could be off. I do not own many boxes and manuals, so I cannot tell you about color and sizing. I try to make the screens the same size as the scans that I am using to reproduce the screens. I wish more people would scan the screens and logos separately but beggars cannot be choosers.

I always scan each component of the box. I've been doing this for a long time now. I scanned Twisted Metal manual many years ago (mid/late nineties.) I had thousands of downloads. lol. I scanned each weapon by itself and cleaned it. I cannot expect others to do that for me. I wish that they will but many users will not even scan boxes much less boxes plus screens plus logos. I make due with what I have. I cannot buy every game myself. I rely on members to share scans but some people just don't care. I get frustrated. I know many members have game boxes that I am missing but they do not scan because a custom cover exists. irritating. But then again, TCP is not screen-capture project or a raws for John web-site. I have to take what I can get.

The only thing that will stop me from completing the entire snes library is death. Otherwise, I will finish the project.
I still need a few hundred scans to complete my collecion, so I focus more on getting scans than making screens.

custom screens
I just pick plot points or interesting aspects of the game. I try to imagine what I would use if it was my game and I wanted to show the consumer why they should buy it. I research each game to see what developers and critics say about it. I base screens on such info.  If you have a custom screen request, then post it. I will try to get it for you.

Nice dedication pal! Keep it up! :)

I intend to keep it going. I want the retail screens. Actually, as long as I have raw scans, I want to restore every box, manual and label that I can in my lifetime. Everytime I see a manual restored, I imagine having the entire collection. awesome! I will keep going.

I will be posting more screens but I am restoring Wizard of Oz manual and it is brutal. I've spent two weeks on it now. I didn't think that it would be so difficult. Progress is about  80%. I cannot wait to finish it. I am very pleased with it. Anyway, more screens coming soon ...
