With all of the examples of the idiots selling on Craigslist, I thought I would share an example of a seller doing it right.

I found a listing today for a huge lot of video games.  Most of it was PS2 and Xbox stuff that I wasn't interested in.  However, he also had an original Magnavox Odyssey with almost all of the original stuff (TV screen overlays, playing cards, stuff like that).  He didn't have a price and only asked for offers.  I'm not a fan of that, however, I offered $50 for all of the Magnavox stuff.  It goes for a lot more than that on eBay, so I figured why not?  He responded that someone had already offered to buy everything.  He said that he would keep in in the loop if the buyer backed out.  He was also honest enough to say that the buyer was getting EVERYTHING for $50 and that he would honor that offer to me if the buyer backed out.  That surprised me because he could have made a lot more money off me if he had kept his mouth shut about the original offer.  I thanked him and asked him to keep me updated.

Later this evening, he confirmed that the lot was sold and gone, but he still made sure that I knew about it and even thanked me for my interest and wished me luck in my future endeavors.

It sucks that I missed out on such a good deal, but it makes it a lot easier when you are dealing with such a professional seller.  If everyone on Craigslist was like him, I would do nothing buy shop there.

So there's hope after all.......even if it's rare.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Someone is selling a 3DS XL.  It's a blue model and they are asking $120.  They say they need the money and that they are willing to go down on price.  No pictures.

I figure I'll give it a go and offer $80 and ask for pictures.  He sends multiple pictures of all angles.  Everything looks good except there is a big ash tray in each picture. :-X  I ask him if the 3DS has a cigarette smell to it and he responds that it does not because he doesn't smoke........ :-\  Not buying it, but for $80, I might take a chance.  He comes back and says he can't do $80.  I ask what is the best he can do, but no response.  He mentioned that he has a Pokémon game and Smash Bros.  I offer $100 for everything with the games, but he says that the games are $40 each.  Since that's what they go for new, I walk away and thanked him for his time.

I would rather wait for the new model anyway.

OMG!

So I was bored and messaged the person saying that the price was a max $50 and that all caps was obnoxious. They actually changed the listing to $50. It's still in caps, but holy crud I was listened to!

"Selling a brand new Wii U Gamecube Adapter for $65, not found anywhere. The box is slightly dented because someone sat on it but it is fine, never opened. "

Also someone posted a Atari Jaguar lot for $250

I offered "$180 or something." I'm good at bargaining.

The Jag has very good ports of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D.  Also, Attack of the Mutant Penguins is moderately amusing.  There are a few good pinball games as well.

Wolfenstein and Doom are great. Those and AvP were the beginning of my love affair with FPS.

Thought this was hilarious and had to share. "Not trying to scalp you guys" Lol

Yeah that's why you're selling it for $450 when you paid ~$80(?). LoL

Well, he probably paid retail, which was 200 bucks.  Still, it's a stupid listing for a number of reasons.

It is a good deal but I found the "will meet at GameStop to prove it works" line.

when I worked at GS we neeeeeever let people try out shit that they were selling like that.  just because we were a vid game store doesn't mean you can walk in and test your shit to sell elsewhere.

If I worked at GS and someone came in asking to test their shit so they could sell it to some guy, I'd straight up laugh at them.  How moronic.  He'd probably act like he was going to trade it in, then have them test it, and then "change his mind".

So, check out the sweet discount this guy gives if you buy all of his games  ::)
