If straight is really important, then I will. But my scanner really sucks, as that the edge has a "dead zone'" of about 1cm. So I have to position it further down to get the whole thing. And when I place something on top of it, it usually turns it. |

sounds a lot like my scanner, but it's much more than a centimeter around the dead zone on the edges, closer to 1 1/2 inches. Sides, top, bottom all have this issue. Funny cause the document scanner in it is awesome. |
| TDIRunner:
I have a dead zone on my scanner as well. I took a file folder which has a perfect 90 degree edge on the outside and cut out a perfect 90 degree corner on the inside (this needs to be precise and is difficult to do, but it only has to be done ONE TIME). Therefore, I created new 90 degree edge guide which is large enough to get my documents outside of the dead zone. Since it's a file folder, the other half is used to lay on top of the document being scanned to hold it down and create a uniform color behind the image. This has made scanning much easier and I have not received any complaints about my scans being out of alignment. If my description isn' helping, I will take pictures of everything later tonight. With that said, it really brings my piss to a boil that I have to go through such BS to get my scans straight. What is the purpose of the edge guide if you can't use it. >:( |

--- Quote from: shenske on July 07, 2014, 08:42:28 AM ---If its 600dpi it won't make a noticeable difference (since it will be resized to 300dpi later). --- End quote --- There iss always lost in detail when turning. On small screen it'as not noticeable, but on big screen and when printed it is. Besides the simple knowledge that it could have been more detailed bugs me. 8) --- Quote from: shenske on July 07, 2014, 08:42:28 AM ---Plus it can be pretty difficult scanning it perfectly straight --- End quote --- Oh believe me that I know as my old scanner auto-cropped 4mm from the edge so I could not use the edges to keep the stuff straight ;D |

We should make a list of good printer\scanners and ones people have had issues with. |
