I had a lady do that at a garage sale last week.

She had a bunch of Wii games for $5 each and she had Mario All-Stars (without the cardboard packaging and Art Book) so I tried to buy it and she was like "That one's $50 because that's what it goes for on ebay"

1. - Overpriced BIN auctions are not "what it goes for"

2. - It was missing the collector's items so it would "go for" way less

3. - It's a garage sale - sell it on ebay if you want "what it goes for"

Normally I wouldn't mind them asking a high price if they were able to negotiate it down to a decent price where both parties still "win" but everyone's firm on their prices and they don't budge at all.  I mean, sure i'd ask top dollar for an item but at the same time I also expect people to throw in offers so negotiations can start.  But unfortunately people think that their Mario/Duck Hunt cart is worth the 25 bucks they're asking...

Man, CL buyers are the biggest bunch of flakes. I threw up the N64 lot that I pulled Worms Armageddon from. I keep getting replies and inquiries that basically sum up to, "Can you hold it for me while I blow you off and don't make further contact?".

I love when people ask me to hold stuff for them.  Here's an easy way to cure that, tell 'em "Sure!  It's $2.50 a day to hold a listing, with a minimum $10.00 fee."  That shuts em the fuck up.

So after a week of flakes and backouts I finally had a serious taker for the N64 lot that I pulled Worms and a couple controllers from. The funny thing, the guy that showed up to claim it was the exact same guy that I picked up a copy of Zelda Collectors Edition from a few weeks ago. Small world.
