Serenity Now!

Azarkhel:

Finally decided tonight that I cant put off learning to do basic mods forever and busted out the soldering kit. Needed a power supply for a scan converter (needed to output 5v, 12v and -12v) so I found the pinout, grabbed an old ATX power supply and a couple of 5 pin DIN connectors and got to work.

First attempt was a disaster, was soldering at too high a heat and ended up mangling the DIN connector. Second attempt went much better, got all the wires attached to the pins solidly so I put the connector back together, plugged it in and flicked the switch. Turns out that old power supply was in a drawer for a reason, it had died and been replaced years ago...

SERENITY NOW!!!

On the plus side i'm feeling a bit more confident with the soldering iron now but godammit...really should have checked the bastard first before spending an hour and a half soldering. Just a little vent here for me, feel free to share your tales of modding noobishness.

Arseen:

Take deep breath. :D

I too tried soldering once but got so axcious that I strarted sweating and my hands were shaking.
Had to abandon the try as it was impossible to consentrate.

I probably could do better now, but don't own soldering iron.
