Games have done this time and time again In fact, the opening to when I'm Sixty-Four was also sampled for the opening of the Leisure Suit Larry theme. A song in Superman NES is a complete hymn, Stand up, Stand up for Jesus. The Bridge Zone music in Sonic the Hedgehog 8-bit (master system and Game gear) rips off the Full House theme. How about the Zelda title theme, it sounds way too similar to sections of "April" by deep purple, as well as the dungeon music. Zelda II's opening music sounds strikingly similar to Father and Son by Queen. Final Fantasy VIIs costa del sol music sounds like Oy Como Va by Santana. Donkey Kongs backgrond track seems to be a rip-off of the opening riff from The Ballad of John and Yoko. It doesn't even end there. The challenge glider music in Super Mario Galaxy sounds way too similar to the Johnny Quest theme. Final Fantasy XIV's song "Good King Moogle Mog" rips off the chorus to "This is Halloween" Games even rip each other off. Terranigma's hometown theme sounds like the Eight Melodies from Earthbound. Nintendo may be right to fear litigation against Earthbounds soundtrack, but I think the lack of attention the series saw in the west came from Sales figures, rather than litigation. |
