Donkey Kong Competition Cartridge
Thom Grayson:
I was at a Goodwill a couple of days ago when I saw a copy of the first Donkey Kong Country. I didn't have it, and it was only a dollar, so I bought it. When I got it home though, it turns out there's a time limit of 300 seconds when you play the game. I looked more closely at the cartridge and it says "Competition Cartridge".
It's not much good for playing, but maybe it's worth something? Does anyone know anything about this 'special version' of DKC?
Azarkhel:
Not sure if Troll or not...
Thom Grayson:
Are you saying that because the answer is obvious? :(
If it is, would it really be that hard to tell me?
JDavis:
Azarkhel is exhibiting the typical internet response when someone posts an incredible story without realizing that it is incredible and/or asks questions that would be swiftly answered through a Google search.
The DKC Competition cartridge was used in competitions at Blockbuster stores and was afterwards sold briefly as a mail-order-only item through Nintendo Power magazine. It is one of the rarer SNES carts as a result, and typically sells for $500+
Thom Grayson:
oh. i feel kind of stupid for playing what is a collectors item. im going to stick it in a UGC and leave it alone then!
its really cool that i have this - but i still dont have the game i was trying to buy :P
thanks jdavis for the reply.
