I did but it did not help much, and it is a pain to get carts in and out of the toaster. I may put getting A Top Loader for now and get some other things I got on my want list.
My local retro game shop does pin replacements for $20, not a bad price.

I'm ay end up just getting a US Top loader and moding it if the Retro store gets one in stock, they sell there for $70, I think, I wonder if Wiggy does AV mods. I still want a model 1 Famicom though, so the power plug info is useful.

Thanks everybody.

Another option is the Sharp Twin Famicom. It's a single unit combining the Famicom and FDS, and comes with AV output built in. Of course, it doesn't have the NES controller ports like the AV Famicom does, but it does have the mic in controller 2. Later models (referred to as the Twin Turbo) also have turbo functionality built into the controllers.

I have every model of NES and Famicom (except the titler :() and can tell you without a doubt the king of them is the AV Famicom.

Nevertheless, every option has its pros and cons. I wrote an editorial on all the various options out there listing theirs pros and cons. It's worth a read for ANYONE who wants to get in on 8-bit Nintendo power.
