Actually, if you buy those white cases in the following quantities, they cost:

 50-Pack $0.80 ea case
100-Pack $0.63 ea case
400-Pack $0.55 ea case
Shipping costs are Included in the above pricing for NY (Them) To Texas (Me)

I did some more searching, and found another case at SuperMediaStore, that looks like it would be ideal:
SuperMediaStore 16mm, 6 Disc, Black CD/DVD PP Poly Cases [100 Pack]
These Cases have Free Shipping, and are only about 52 cents per case.
They appear to be almost the exact same size as a Nintendo DS Case.
You can use one of it's removable CD/DVD Sleeves to hold a GB, GBC, or GBA Manual.
It has a full outer sleeve/jacket for artwork.
The DS-Size Covers on this site for GB, GBC and GBA games might fit in them with little to no resizing/editing required.

I don't personally own any of these cases, so you may wanna only get a single 100-pack at first, to make sure they'll work.  ;)

  • Coffee... What would I do without you?
UGC or DVD cases to hold GB, GBC, or GBA games is just madness, even more so when you can get DS or 3DS cases next to free (yes I got all of mine free  ;D  ;D  ;D ). I would say you would be more likely to raise peoples interest with foam inserts for the newer DS cases (the ones without the GBA slot) and the regular 3DS cases. Since I get mine for free, I'm pretty happy to continue hacking up DS and 3DS cases.

If your really serious about this, maybe invest some money in case that has not been previously discussed, provide and demonstration of how the foam, game, and manuals would sit in the case. Maybe try some thing like a 10mm-15mm poly case?
Do you mean he could make foam inserts for something like this?:
http://www.supermediastore.com/product/u/poly-case-24-disc-clear-multi-pack-20pk?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=productAds&utm_term={keyword}&utm_content=pla&gclid=CKvf3O73sbYCFQGCnQod538Ahw

or like this?

You could probably leave one of the CD Sleeves in there, for a Manual, and make a foam insert for the game carts. Although, I'm not sure of all game manuals could fit in there; you'd have to check.

Something along those lines, yes. I wouldn't go overkill on the size. Keep the spine at most 10mm - 15mm. That would be the same size or smaller than the EU DS cases.

These look like they will work. I called SuperMediaStore to get the exact dimensions as its not in the product details that i can see. As long as the spine isn't too big i think it will work without any real modification to the existing artwork. If its the right size i will order a case and see.

Ok,

So the original DS/GBA case is about 5/38 x 4 7/8 by 5/8. These black cases with the disc sleeves are 6 x 5 1/2 x 5/8.

I was able to resize existing art with almost no effort and the "stretching" doesn't appear to affect the quality of the artwork. So i am going to order some of these so i can start sizing the foam.

I am thinking of making the Foam for GameBoy/GameBoy color games. Is there interest in other platforms? I don't see the need to make GBA foam as GBA carts fit in DS cases.

Also, should i leave one disc sleeve for the manual or remove it all together.

Thanks. I'll get some picks as soon as get the cases in.

I received the cases today and did some test prints. The artwork for these cases is 12.25 x 5.125. Resizing the existing GameBoy artwork fits almost perfect. As you can see from the pictures, the spin is just a tad too big when stretching. But it doesn't bother but some of you perfectionists out there might scream bloody murder.

The case comes with 3 disc sleeves. I removed two of them and left the one in. You can put the game cart in front and the manual in back.

I am wondering if foam inserts are even needed. What are you thoughts? Would you prefer a foam insert to hold the cart or is the design as is ok?

I am going to make a foam prototype to see how it looks but i wont be able to do that until the weekend.

Sound off! Suggestions? Comments?

That looks pretty good to me. I have already put a bunch of my GB/GBC/GBA/ngpc in DS cases. Looks like a good solution for someone just starting.

If you did not keep the cd sleeve in and went the foam insert route, would you not have to make a sort of holder for the manuals?

Seems easier to just have the sleeves, Which also keeps costs down.

Even with a foam insert i would probably keep the Cd insert in the case. Maybe glue it to the left side of the case.

But the foam inserts themselves are probably more expensive then the actual case.

Jesus, I just don't understand, why when I see other people's Gameboy covers using DS cases, they don't have gaps on the side of the box. I am printing mine the way they are supposed to and the cover doesn't completely reach the side of the box, but yours does? wtf

These look just like the 8 disc poly case we are using with other systems only they just have 3 cd inserts instead of 4
Anyways I would put the manual in a different sleeve instead of the back of the one with the cart to avoid bending

Heres the original post with some more places to buy

I looked at getting the 8 disc cases but i think the spines were bigger.

So maybe i will glue one of the sleeves to the left side for the manual and glue the other sleeve to the right side for the cart. That could work.

8-disc & 6-disc poly cases are identical in physical size. Only difference is a extra sleeve on the inside  :P
