I'd vote for no logo on the lower spine though.  IMO, the simple "Nintendo Entertainment System" on top is enough.  Any more and I think you'd lose a but of that simple elegance.

Agreed when it comes to the pictures on the shelf.  Though I'm curious how version 2 would look there as that one might be my favorite of the three.

I'd still vote for the cover sprite to be on the bottom of the spine.

V3 is the best, much more striking. If your worried about it being too chunky maybe try dropping the lines from the logo and just having "NES". I like it as is though.

Been leaning towards v2 myself, using the bottom for the publisher/dev logo.

I'll try without the bars on V3.  They definitely aren't doing it for me.

Hadn't thought about using the sprite on the spine. I'll try that out, but with just a silhouette.

V2 could work with just "nes" at the top.

EDIT: Or a very simplified vector of a NES toaster...

Silhouettes would be neat. Reminds me of the newer pokemon games.

  • Coffee... What would I do without you?
You know what, after seeing them on a shelf, they look pretty bad ass!  :)

Never mind my previous comments, please continue.

Thanks ;D

I think I'm sticking with V1 for now.  It's working for me, and i can't find a really good reason to change it other than to appease someone else.

But, if anyone wants any version of the template, I'll gladly upload them all.  Heck, I'd love to see other folks take a crack at it and put their own spin on it ;)

Oh man. Oh man. Oh man. I love it. ;D

Of course, it's well on the record that I like minimalist design stuff.

Thanks!  I love that I can crank these out in like 15 minutes or less.  It's so satisfying getting these cased quickly and on the shelves ;D

Your links are all down :(  I recall really digging your covers.

From the photo, the spines have actually got a look of the original atari 2600 releases.

Yup!

Something about having a rainbow of spines just reminds me of old, old school gaming.  Back when bright colors and rainbows weren't "gay".  To me it says "these are FUN, play with them!" ;D
