Thoughts in my head about repo carts

ok this has been bugging me for a long time i own some famicom games and i know Mother/Earthbound Zero has a repo cart. if i were to get Mother on the famicom could someone mod it to be in eng i feel that games from japan should be in the OG cart. also could it be done to other famicom/super famicom games i would like translated

this is true for SNES 'earthbound' , but Famicom 'mother/earthbound zero' is fair game 'cos it never officially got a NES translation.
also, spoke to a repro maker about EB, he would do it if you made a hack...

THEORETICALLY, all you'd need to do would be to swap the 'earthbound zero' chips into the 'mother' cart.
this would be true for any game, if it has a translation and can be repro'ed, get the repro and swap over the chips into the original cart.
swapping chips around COULD do some damage, SO TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The thing that's stupid about that is neother is any more or less legal to produce. I don't know if it's more of a not polluting the legitimate market thing for most repro makers or not, but I do hear a lot of people preach about how fan subs and hacks are less illegal, which is garbage.

Or any other cart that'll do the job. Repros don't at all require that you use a JP version of a game that you want to place a translation into. There's absolutely no reason to use a mother 1 to do the job, and it won't make it any easier either if you did. It's not a 'pluck old chip out, place new chip in affair' no matter what.

i think you've hit the nail on the head with this, but also i was told EB sort of fucks up if you try to repro/copy/hack it...
