And a friend once told me Axe Body Spray apprerently works pretty well too but I wouldnt know.

Interesting.  I'm curious what they use to atomize that crap with...

I think the key ingredient in Axe sprays is "slight burning sensation".

I've used Old Spice body spray to take marker off of some of my old game cartridges and it works amazingly well. I'm not sure if there's a possibility of damaging the plastic but I haven't had any problems with it. I've never tried using it on a label though and I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Heres an update guys..

i bought 91% alcohol and it didnt make it fade any either.

i am starting to think that it's nail polish..

i was told that alcohol won't remove nail polish.

But all the nail polish remover i can find has a key ingredient of Acetone.

Sad but true I'm afraid.  We all know how Acetone loves ABS too.  :-[  You're between a rock and a hard place here.  Depending on how bad it is.  You may find it easier to replace the shell.

I'll ask my wife if such a creature even exists.

She said you should be able to find it at your local dollar store.

Also, try going over the marks with a dry erase marker. I know, it sounds crazy, but the way permanent markers work there's a bonding agent that makes the pigments stick to whatever surface it's written on. Dry erase markers use a bonding agent that is designed to wipe off and with sufficient application the old pigment will stick to the new bonding agent and wipe away. I may not have explained it well, but trust me, it works.

I usually use a brown dry erase marker, and mark until the original (inevitably black) markings are no longer visible. Then wipe away, and presto!

I just had the same issue yesterday, and my old standby of Goo Gone failed me. After a lot of rubbing over permanent marker I barely managed to even fade it slightly. I haven't tried dry erase marker yet, but that's my next trick.

If 99% ISO won't take it off, then it's not likely that it's marker so much as nail polish or something else :(

I never understood why people wrote their names on games. It's a shame, cause even if you manage to get the marker off, often times the cartridge has discolored, to a yellow or darker grey color, meaning that you'll always be able to see the slight difference. I would be tempted to replace the cartridge, but first I'd try what others have said.

Good luck with that mate! Let us know how it goes!

It's because kids steal other kid's games and moms want to keep track of those $40+ investments.  I don't blame 'em, not that I like having to clean it up when it eventually ends up in my hands :/

Fair enough, sure does suck. I've been fortunate enough to not pick up anything that has been drawn on. Plus I never loaned my games to anyone, bar my best mate, who is also a collector, so I know he will treat my games like gold dust.
