Ok, so are emulators as good as the original? Is there a marked difference? I guess my question is, if you have the original system and it works fine do you really need a Retron?

I have pretty much every classic gaming system (I'm missing a few obscure systems). To me, they are collectors items and I keep them stored away. I got my Retron 5 today and I love it!

1.) The emulation is better than the original game systems performance. All games run at 60 fps. Original game systems only ran at 30 fps.
Master System games are emulated with the FM chip.
2.) I enjoy playing on the couch instead of playing emulators on a PC.
3.) I like using real cartridge roms or I feel guilty.
4.) Saves space under my TV.
5.) Looks great on an HD TV. Classic game systems look like shit on an HD TV.
6.) You don't have to put wear and tear on a classic gaming system.
7.) I now have a simple way to play Nintendo's portable games on my TV.

It's perfect.

I didn't know about the fm emulation on master system games.  That's a reason for me to buy it right there.  Thanks for the info segamer!

Pretty much how I feel. Just got my pre-order yesterday, really haven't had time to play it yet. (c'mon saturday!), But I played Kid Icarus: Myths & Monsters for GB for about half an hour.

It has it's own codes, so you don't need the game genie if you're a dirty dirty cheater.  If you're just wondering what it does, I bet it detects it and don't dump the game properly, but I may be wrong there.

It loads the game genie itself. But after you enter codes and press start it just resets the game genie. You can't play the connected game.

Dont have alot of time for heavy gaming so cheats are nice, especially if ive already beaten a really hard game without them and get all nostalgic and wanna play a few minutes.

Picked up and tested 4 more GBA games:

-F-Zero: Maximum Velocity - works fine
-Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - works fine
-Sonic Battle - works fine
-Wario Land 4 - game works fine, didn't read my save games on the Retron, upon reinserting it into my GBA it notified me that File A was lost and would be erased, though oddly File B was not affected.

And tested Street Fighter II for SNES, seems to work fine as well.

I'd like to see the results of someone running the 240p test suite on it, vs a quality upscaler like XRGB Mini (Framemeister).  Problem is since it blocks flash carts, you'd need it on a repo and hope it works.

Same here. Where I use to find satisfaction in retrying a level a 100 times before beating it, I now find some frustration and I abandon!
That's what happens when your free time for gaming goes from 8 hours to 15 mins a day :)

Got mine yesterday. With the recent update I can play pretty much everything but homebrew and reproduction carts. And even then I can still play them the cart just isn't recognized.

I got mine a couple days ago but I haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. It showed up the day after my wife gave birth to our first child, so that's had me a little busy.  ::)

Hopefully I soon get a chance to play some retro games and some Destiny alpha/beta.

The Retron5 is an emulation based machine. Retron3 is a pirate "on a chip" technology. Best way to try and explain it is the retron5 is more like a computer and the retron3 is just the system (no added features)

Retron 5 is a whole new ball game.  Snapshot saves. Screenshot support.  Cheat support.  Upscaled graphics with various filters. Enhanced audio  and excellent gb, GBC, gba support.
