And on the speccy.  I remember hacking speccy games for infinite lives etc, by poking to a specific address that held the number of lives.
That's why I'm happy the PS One my wife bought me had the serial port.  I have a game shark pro, great for searching for codes in-game.

I went to Gamestop today to see if they had any in stock, and the dude said "We only sell legit systems. Those Retrons aren't on the down low with their illegal copying of the hardware"...I let him know that the patents were expired, and therefore they are legal and legit. Then I left. If it's not old, I don't want it.

The Zapper and most every other light gun actually use both to track where the gun is pointed. The white boxes to know if the gun is even aimed at a target area and the refresh to determine WHICH white box the gun is aimed at. That's why they don't work with modern TVs.
Nes zappers do not track horizontal refresh like other system's guns, it only has two bits to check, light sense and trigger, bits 3 and 4 located at registers $4016/$4017.  When you program the games, you have to show only one target at a time per frame on a nes (VS any other system), then check the next target. There's some info over at http://wiki.nesdev.com on it too.  So to check a target, you show it with color $20, check is bit three and four are both on, if so, it's a hit.  If just trigger but no light sense, it's a miss.  Just light sense but no trigger, they were looking at the target at least.  You generally check the trigger, then show targets, then check light sense since you know they just pulled the trigger.

And not to seem rude, but you seem to try to correct me a lot.

And a few more but I'm busy at work and can't search. I'm not exactly a noob you know.  If I say something, maybe look up what I say to make sure how you understand something is actually how it works. I mean heck, I've developed on many of these consoles. (Making lines on a 2600 counts as developing, damnit.  That ones HARD to make stuff work)

Honestly, you just kinda get on my nerves, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  You tend to do the same thing, which is probably why we don't get along.

Grey or black?
Grey

I opted for the same.  Has a more old school feel to it, and I am sick of everything that comes out these days being black.

I pre-ordered it so long ago, I don't remember selecting the color. At this point, I'm just happy to have one. I've wanted one since they were announced. However, I was likely thinking as you do about the color at the time.

Plus isn't the black version glossy black? With all the inserting and removing of carts, all the finger prints would drive me nuts...  :P

I pre-ordered black simply because I own more Genesis games than anything else.

Maybe I wouldn't get on your nerves so bad if, when I see you posted in a thread, I didn't have to be defensive in my posts and think "Oh hey Wiggy posted.  I better watch what I say and play dumb else he'll try to correct me for something stupid"

I went to Gamestop today
Well, stop that!

I'd say I have to go with the black as well. Just looks a lot sharper and more modern

I hate to say it but most of tho post you post Ozzy, it seems like your just trying to be a know it all. You could be the nicest and/or smartest guy I could ever meet. But you impression on here is very annoying. It's like you have an opinion on everything.

This is also one of the reasons I don't get on here much anymore.
I said my piece.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

Sorry about that, but keep in mind, I've been hanging out with emulation developers for 12+ years.  I've been collecting for 22 years starting when I bought a TG-16 from Game Dude.  I've been making console game demos for 10+ (Ok, 4+ considering I've not touched one in years).

It's not I'm a know it all, I've just been around.  A lot. And when someone says something like "You can convert a TG-16 to play on PC-Engine", and someone was going to buy it, wasting a ton of money, should I say "Oh no, that won't work" like I did, ignore the post, or go into the real details of "Oh hey, I remember when they started making those adapters out of sewing machine parts years ago. "  I LIKED this forum because I didn't have to play completely dumb about something I have an interest in without upsetting people who thought they were big shots. But apparently this is another forum where I need to be careful on correcting info or making comments, no matter how related it is to me, else I come off looking like a show off and offend the show offs.

I would say one thing though.  Unlike most, *I* checked what I said before sprouting wrong info. To me it seems like some people are upset about not being the big cheese and everything they say is accepted at face value, while I have no issues with being proved wrong.
