Retron 5 (aka 4)
sheep2001:
How is the scaling on a large screen tv. Say for gba or snes.?
JDavis:
It's perfectly fine. Without any filters it's all pixel perfect as far as I can tell, but there's also an option to "Force Original Resolution", which scales it to an exactly multiple of the original resolution with a black border around it.
It has your typical selection of emulator filters that I don't care for to smooth things out.
It also has a scanline option... Which works better on some systems than others. It looks perfect on NES, for example, but on Gameboy there's multiple "scanlines" rendered for each pixel :-\
Oh, and I forgot about Space Invaders.
Space Invaders (GB) boots up to the same menu it would when played on the Super Gameboy, giving you the option to play either the Gameboy version in color OR the SNES version, but if you pick the latter it freezes on the screen that says to wait while the aliens are invading your Super Nintendo. Thankfully the latter as its own SNES cartridge (with more modes) is pretty darn cheap.

@JDavis - Thanks for the initial impressions! I'm curious to get one and try it out myself.
Some of the things you mentioned they said on Facebook will be coming in updates/patches in the near future, such as Sonic & Knuckles lock-on. You might want to share your findings on there as their Tech person is collecting this information for fixes in future updates. In particular he's wanting info on games that aren't working, aren't saving, etc. I for one hope they get the Super Game Boy working, as it's still nice to have borders and whatnot. I wouldn't have expected them to have the borders normally as I don't think the Game Boy Player did that either. I'd also notify them specifically about the Game Boy being off by a pixel.
Speaking of which, do you have a DS Lite? I suggested on FB that one could use the DS Lite's slot 2/GBA port cover as a cover for the RetroN5's GBA port to prevent dust collection when not in use. I just wonder if it fits and stays in.
I'm also curious if the GB Wisdom Tree games fit and work, and if GBA Video cartridges work.

Here's one I'd like to know.
A few select Game Boy titles with Super Game Boy enhancements allow for multi-player when used on the Super Game Boy. Games that come to mind are Killer Instinct, one of the Street Fighter and Bomberman/Wario Blast - which features four players when using the SNES 4-Player adapter.
(oh, do the 4-player adapters work with this? I guess the NES one won't.. although I suppose you could probably rig something up using NES extension cables...)

My main questions would be, how's the intro to Actraiser? Full speed? Does Actraiser 2 play fine at normal speeds? What about F-Zero? Top Gear 3000? And how's it handle bugs, for example, press up and down or left + right in many games, you can cause strange effects. Wonder how it handles world -1 in SMB?
I'm assuming the glitches and TG3000 should be fine, if they're using a fairly new emulator core. But then again, seeing how poor emulation on Android has been vs PC, who knows.
