I agree with this. Plus it is extremely inconvenient to hook up old consoles to modern televisions just because they usually only have one input for composite and no s video inputs anymore, thus relegating you to use a video switcher. And as you guys already know, old consoles playing on new tvs look terrible, unless of course you are using an emulator in which case it look a lot better.

You forgot the HUUUUGE power strips needed to plug in all systems or hot-swap them.

For me, this device fills a role I've already built stuff to fill.  I can see where others would have use for it, but I'm not seeing anything that's an improvement for me.  If they removed the redumping of carts when switching games, ect, then maybe.

It plays them in HD, can do smoothing, save states, backup saves and copy them back to carts, has a built-in game genie, potentially will play every game thanks to system updates, potential for homebrew through its Android structure, and ports for 3 different classic controllers with the option to map any of them for any system any way you want - and it only has 1 HDMI cable and 1 power adapter.

For $100 that's a deal. Or...I guess I could buy 2 Call of Duty games.......yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay 

I bought an Ouya, and I can potentially play any game I want, but I just find that I prefer using cartridges, and I want a clean retro-gaming focused interface to do it. But I don't regret buying the Ouya as it's still fun every once in a while, and its a neat little gaming oddity.

Here are the "unofficial" details.

The "end of May" release is a "soft" release. Meaning they really are waiting for the next batch due in the summer for the official real release. Amazon is NOT getting any of the units released at the end of May. Each retailer is only getting 4 units. Retail on the unit is $139.99 and $39.99 for the additional controller. The reasons for the price increase are both cosmetic and technical but if it works as it should then it should be a great retro system.

Our 4 are already taken with pre-orders. If you know any stores locally that are getting units, and you want one for end of May, then i suggest you contact them and put money down. Keep in mind that each store is getting 4 units only for the soft launch.

That would require another delay in order to box another SKU.  And dealing with the issue of having box to sell to retailers. 

And I'm guessing Hyperkin sees this as their chance to really rise above their competitors and become THE retro hardware company.  They're going to push their wireless controller, I'm sure.

For those of us with Amazon pre-orders (unless they cancel all pre-orders and make you re-order the pre-order) the price change should not affect us, due to Amazon's pre-order price guarantee.

Having played the system I Can say its pretty awesome, and luckily for me I preordered on Amazon for 99 bux. The main reason I got it was for GBA games but seeing I just picked up a gamecube with the gameboy player I can definitely wait for Amazon to fulfill my preorder.

Since I heard it was coming out soon I also pre ordered a reprint of Pier Solar.

thought I'd mention it since I'm sure someone may want to get in on that.
They're taking pre orders for the new DreamCast/PC/Mac version and reprints of the genesis/mega drive version.

$65 for reprint preorder. I was being a cheap ass first and checked ebay. They sell pretty consistently for $80-90. Was hoping for a deal =[  lol

thats because they keep reprinting it, i think this is like the 3rd reprint or something, keeps the ebay price low, i for one am happy about this!
