I like how no one is thinking of how a Little Samson repro could be abused.
Its simple to say the biggest reasons why most repro makes wont make retail games because, really at this day and age, Little Samson repros are the last thing we need floating around as retail copies.
Do we really need a site that sais "Hey, Ill make you what ever you want, retail or not"? Then everyone floods with orders saying "Hey, make me Little Samson, Bubble Bobble 2, Power Blade 2 and Flinstones 2". Sure alot of people will be happy to actually be able to give this a play on there NES for a reasonable price and will probably keep it for them selves.
But what about all the people who choose to abuse this service? (And there will be some!) You dont think at some point or another, someone is going to try ripping people off passing these off as real? I know theres a handfull of us here here that could certainly recreate a retail label with ease. Then just find yourself the highest quality paper/printer, and you can bang out labels that would be hard to tell the difference to the untrained eye. Hell, every time I get a new repro game in, I pass it around to all my friends to check out (gamer/collector or not) since I make my own labels. Even some of my friends who actually retro collect cant even tell its a repro untill I tell them it is or they recognize the game and know its repro. I cant tell you how many times Ive had people in my game room and tell me "What? When did we ever get Secret of Mana 2?" Open up my case, admire it for a few minutes and have no idea what they were holding was actually a repro cart.
And if you sold any of those games for half of what their actually worth, youd still make a killing. I dont think thats something any repro maker wants to be a part of. And how good would it looked if it actually happened, and you were the one to make the cart? If I made repros, I dont know that Id be comfortable building Little Samson carts for strangers on a regular basis...
Like I said, I love repros and I do understand why people would want repros of retail games. But I dont think it makes it a good idea to just open up the doors so everyone can buy any super rare retail cart the want. They'd be flying out the door all over the place. It doesnt take longer than a few seconds to realize how bad and fast that situation could get...
