oh well!, good luck with the search...

...however, if you dont find anyone, I could probably put it together for You for around £50-60, shipping might be a little on the high side though, dont know, never sent anything to the Dominican Republic...

anyway, back to the current project;

this is the controller I've converted, got it with the crystal xbox I got for the xbox PC, it was broke so I decided I'd put it to good use here...

and this is what I'll be using as the plug/socket;

its an ipod connection, soldering to those little pins should be FUN !

A little project i'll be doing that may interest you aswell Dr. Argon

I'll eventually be doing a "Master Gear" mod but in the opposite way of Dr. Argon. I have 3 working Game Gears so i have no qualms about ripping it apart for this  ;D

Basically its replacing the LCD with a modern one and permanently hooking up a 'Gear Master' converter. It lets you play Master System games on the game gear. The Game Gears LCD obviously uses a different resolution so it squishes the Master System games to fit. Replacing the LCD with a modern screen alleviates this problem.

They are pretty cheap too (here is a quick listing for reference)

So... how much of a pain in the butt was it to consolize a game gear?  I have been kicking around the idea of trying it.  I know I need to get that TV out chip and I would probably try and build my own case of some kind but I would like to do a full video out with the biggest resolution I can get and 2 player controller ports (could get the ports from a genesis).

I too would so like to have 2 consolized Game Gears with RGB TV-output and systemlink ports.

actually it wasnt that hard, cant off the top of my head remember which outputs that board has,
however, unless you have a good upscan converter you wont get full screen games on most GG games, a few (which are basically the master system rom on a GG cart) will show full screen, but the rest will have borders

as for 2 player, never properly looked into it, its do-able, but i have no interest in that...

this reminds me, i really should get around to posting pics of the finished mega gear.

finally got round to taking pics of what ive been working on these past few days;

up first are some of the finished Mega Gear;

power jack;

yes its an XLR microphone connector, its got 3 pins and was easy to work with :P

next we have the power switch and the A/V jacks;

much easier to use now!

filled in this hole, didnt need it;

also filled in a few other holes and connected up the power LED, might put a little fan in there, otherwise its done!

moving on...

thanks to wiggy i got some SNES controller connectors, put them to good use finishing off my JAMMA supergun;

all fitted and working well!

just for fun, heres a view from above with the power off and on;

Finally tonight, another little treat from wiggy, who supplied me with an empty SNES mini shell, ive already started the modding on this;

HOPEFULLY this will be the LAST time i re-house the GBA console!

gba console done!

here it is with a GBA game in place;

moved the power LED so its next to the on/off switch

and here it is with a GB game in;

modded my gb action replay so it will actually fit;

i'm happy with how this eventually turned out!

HOPEFULLY i can move onto the PSP project this saturday...

did a bit of work on the controller side of the PSP project, the plug is all soldered up, but i fucked up the socket side, (damn tiny pins!) so ive had to order another!
hope to have it before the weekend, otherwise it'll have to wait until next week (christmas shopping on saturday...)

messed up the controller connection again, damn tiny pins!, so i thought "fuck that shit!" and wired it up to 2 15-pin d-sub plugs, much easier!, might get around to doing something in January, i need to think about some kind of case for it...

also working on another project, but that is partially on hold until i can get the remaining parts for it...

post 1200! woot!

EDIT:

mentioned this project in the previous post, but have made loads of progress since then;

thats right, its a console-ized CPS2!
although, i should say almost console-ized, i just need the FGwidget converters for the controllers, and then it'll be done.

here we have the connectors, A/V on the left, power and on/off switch on the right, also swapped out the old fan for a much quieter one, before it sounded like a jet engine taking off, now it purrs like a kitten!

lastly a couple of action shots, i can only show the demo mode ('cos i aint got the controllers), but it looks glorious!;

(PSP project is on hold for a bit whilst i get this out of the way)
