i'd love one of these too - perhaps built into an external hdd case like this:

when ive finished mine i'll know how easy/hard it would be to make another...

...THEN i'll think about offering to make them for other people,
wouldnt be cheap tho, the tv board alone cost me £50, then you have to think about specs, cases etc
might be doable for £100-£120

also, cant take on any more mods 'til i've finished your NES, sheep (i know im almost there on that, but still...)

posting this now so people have time to read it.

any consoles or controllers you see, except for the GG, were either dead, crap, surplus, worthless or all of those, so dont cry or protest if you see something being torn apart for bits!

Can't you wire in a 9 pin d so you can use master system pads?

Quote from: CommunistGamer
or wire a nine pin and use the SG-1000 joystick?

Quote from: Dr.Agon
probably could do either/both of those

got a 9 pin in there, wanted to get something in place, used the nes controller as it was a spare so i could get gaming without having to spend any more money, i'll be making an arcade style stick for this somewhere down the line...

Quote from: CommunistGamer
trust me use the original sega joystick, tis the best

not when compared with a custom arcade stick made with sanwa and seimetsu parts...

despite being a generally lazy git, i couldnt resist doing a bit of work on this, so...PICCY TIME!!

this is the shell i'll be using, already trashed the board and added the logo;

tried to make the 6 look like an 8, kinda works at a distance...

close up of my logo;

made the logo in paint from the japanese MD logo, i think its turned out quite well!

took the cart connector off and fixed it in place;

it sits where the old one was, so...slightly modded cart flap, closed;

open;

and with game in place;

its columns!

it fits really well!, all-in-all im very happy with how that turned out!

this is the final pic for tonight, the board in place;

thats where its going to sit, with the video board off to the side.
probably start the soldering tomorrow, we shall see...

Looking forward to seeing a few more pics on that Mega Gear. I seriously wanna either do this myself sometime or have someone do it for me. I think Id call it the Game Gear TV (GGTV). Ive recently been trying to replace my game gear games with the Master System versions if they exist so I can play them on my TV. Not sure what Id use to house the whole thing because I want to put in something that can give it its own unique look. Could always try and build something I guess.

cool, thanks!
im using the MD shell cos i dont have one in my collection, have a wondermega and md2, so it wont clash with any of the other consoles i have

only one pic to post;

rewired the cart slot using my prefered method of multi-wire-octo-mess!
just have to start on the really hard part on saturday!

this is it, the only thing i have to sort out is the power switch, still thinking about what to do for that...

this is my modded stick, all sanwa parts in a case i got a worthless game in...

and here is a vid of it in action, excuse the crap playing, its not easy filming and playing at the same time...

Nice, looks like shes working good. Is it possible to set this up so it plays in full screen? Id think the boarders might make gameplay feel a little wierd.

apparently this can be done, but only with an xrgb or similar upscan convertor...

This is so groovy!

i wish it were possible to make a GG to GEN converter of some sort that would work through the 32X

Quote from: Bear78
Quote from: CommunistGamer
I might be possable, you just need a rom that reads from the gg and sends all the videoout, power, and sound through the 32x

It's been loooooong discussed over at sega-16.com ... short answer, not possible.

Quote from: CommunistGamer
Hmm. just checked that site, guess what, all i found was the fact that the idea i had is the only way it would work. what a concept. using the gg hardware, thats never been thought of before . (Super gameboy)

ok, i have a video uploading, i'll have to put up a link
but i was thinking, sometimes when im on a forum ive seen videos in the actual posts, so you click on it and it plays right there in a little window, how do you do that?

EDIT: lets see if this works...

so a couple of notes;

the commentary is a bit silly/crappy, but i had fun anyway!

the wii shell was recovered from a previous project, i re-shelled my wii so had this one to spare.

the cart is in sideways, mounting it so the label faced forward would have required a bit more work than i was prepared to put into this!

the video connector is just a 9-pin that i recovered from the megadrive board.

i had an old non-dualshock playstation controller gathering dust, now it finally has a purpose!, but what magic allows me to use it with the GBA??

http://godlikecontrols.com/

the guy behind the cthulu boards makes something called the 'FGW converter', this allows you to convert playstation, saturn or super nintendo controller signals in to individual signals, this allows you to hook them up to other controllers, like i have here, or x360/ps3 controllers to make a snes-to-x360 connector, for example, or even connect saturn controllers to a supergun/jamma test rig!
needless to say i'll be ordering a few more of those!

I admire your do-it-yourself approach. The way you set up the GameBoy to connect all of your consoles to one tv reminds of this video from youtube. GamingTheSystems is one of my favorite channels for retro gaming.

I like how you both have everything plugged in and connected to one tv and can switch between consoles by pressing a few buttons. I hope it's ok to post links to youtube here; if it's not I'll just delete my post.

I hope you enjoy:
