Well - he arrived today, and here he is, installed in his new home with lots of friends:

Unfortunately one of the hinges for the famicom door came off in transit.  Other than that - pretty pleased with it.

It also needs a new 72 pin connector as the NES slot is very flakey, so when i take it apart to do that, i'll have a go at fixing the hinge.  Anyone got a link to a decent quality 72pin supplier in europe - read lots of things about poor quality ones, so want to make sure when i do it, it's going to last.

edit:  not to worry - found one of my trusted ebay import suppliers stocks them - got one on its way!   ;D

looks sweet in your entertainment center!

during testing i found the nes 'sweet spot', where games would work every time, im glad you've got a replacement on the way!

I have amateur soldering skills and quasi time to do it lol. Do you have a guide that you used for this? I am really a beginner to electronics so would probably need a pretty dumbed down guide with pictures XD

theres a pinout that i used somewhere around here, (check the hybrid posts, or i can PM you it), then you need the famicom connector, i could send you the link to the one i used in sheeps mod, after that its just soldering pin to pin, by far the hardest part is mounting the fami slot!

im sure if you googled around you could find a pretty decent guide...

(if you ever wanted me to guide you through, id be more than happy to!)

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to my Next Project!

Without further ado lets begin

Sega's Game Gear, (henceforth refered to as GG). it was a pretty cool little system, a master system in your pocket, how cool is that?,
sadly it was crushed by 2 fatal flaws; (probably more but...)

1)  Backlit colour screen
this made the battery life VERY short

2) trying to compete against Nintendo's Gameboy
all other handhelds have fallen before this Behemoth, and Sega's was no different.

but what about all those GG games you have? are they destined to sit unplayed forever, never to feel the soft caress of human hands??

fear not!, there is a solution;

http://members.iinet.net.au/~stinkyfist/reviletim/ggtv/ggtv.htm

using this you can build your very own GG console (GG at home, whatever)
which is what this thread is,

Introducing the Sega MegaGear (name copyright Dr.Agon 2012)...Build thread!
