Well, that settles it then.  Two people recommending I play it means I've got to do so sometime.  Now, all I need is a Super Nintendo (had to sell mine recently) and a copy of the game.  Might be a bit of a wait for that unless I find a killer deal somewhere.  My next major purchase is gonna be one of Wiggy's backlit GameBoy Advances.
You could always play "A Link to the Past" with an emulator; I don't know of any reliable N64 ones.

If you go that route then I recommend hacks of LttP too, 2 best I know are Goddess of Wisdom and Paraller Worlds (or Paraller Worlds Redone).

I never cared much for Halo.  Its just another first person shooter in my book.

Also other, not game related, things I cant get into are Harry Potter and Dr. Who.

Why do they have such big followings I will never know.

To be honest, I was never interested in the Final Fantasy games. I never had FFII (FFIV) or FFIII (FFVI) when I had my SNES, and I didn't own a PS until long after I had my GCN. I tried FFIII on emulator once, and it didn't grab me right away, though I may have been distracted.

And Rayman Origins is amazing, I can tell, but it frustrates me to no end. I can't get the flow right, and I fear it may end up being a game I own, but can't get into.

I could never get into Mario Kart.  Racing has always been my favorite genre, but I just didn't care for it.  It always felt slow and sluggish to me.  I do play Mario Kart Wii a lot because my son enjoys it, and I like that one better than the N64 & SNES versions.  We like Sonic & Sega Racing better than Mario Kart though.

Same goes for Mass Effect, the first one had a great idea just poor execution, now Mass Effect 2, one of the best games I ever played.

You sure about that?

I always felt 1 was superior to 2 because it had a more strategic combat. Two was more Gears like a series I couldn't get into. I played Gears one and finished it but never had the urge to play part 2.

I feel Mass Effect 2 was better due to it improving upon everything. The story in Mass Effect 1 could have ended where it was, the reaper dead and the threat of the rest of them coming could have been years or decades later. That was one complete storyline, however Mass Effect 2 was the game that transformed the standalone into a franchise creating a far richer galaxy than before with the new characters who had amazing personalities that just oozed with the kind of ragtag mercenary team that makes almost all good adventure films...good. Mass Effect 1 had...Wrex for that element, but for the most part you were all soldiers on a soldiery mission doing soldiery stuff. MAss Effect 2 made you a living part of the galaxy, having to intertwine with every kind of person imaginable and giving such depth and scope that was not recognized again in the series. The story itself was far more mysterious, far more intriguing and much better written than the first game. Where Mass Effect 1 had super cognitive powers mixed in with an Indiana Jones like race to find an artifact, the second game busted the door open with a constant sense of not knowing what the hell was going on but quite comfortable going along the ride more and more. Mass Effect 2 has no real archetype I can relate to any film, it is equal parts action, thriller, mystery, and adventure and excels at each one of these trademarks. Then there is the gameplay which actually worked on the fly and did not require you to go into pause menus to command your troops. Everything was simplified to accomplish without being simple. It allowed for deeper immersion as the action and tension never broke making it far more enjoyable as well.

I still loved ME1 and it was a game I bought day of release when it came out on the 360 (I later repurchased on Steam as it plays way better on PC), but Mass Effect 2 blew my mind and will always be the epitome of the trilogy.

As far as Metal Gear being better than Splinter Cell. I can understand that claim because I have never played a Metal Gear Solid game that I didn't like. The adventures of Sam Fisher however has had some really mediocre games so when viewing it as a series, I can't help but declare my support for Kojima's brilliant games. That said I am kind of more of a Deus Ex fan anyhow.

On Mario Kart, play Double Dash and Mario Kart DS. Best games in the franchise and not very slow paced at all.

-Pikmin 2, I mean I loved Pikmin 1 when I bought it, but after waiting so long to buy Pikmin 2 (I waited till it got the Wii release because the GameCube version was so expensive), but then I played it and it was like, meh, I could never finish it.

-Resident Evil 4, I liked it as it was, but I was expecting something different.  The game had terrible audio, the atmosphere was bland and I HATE QUICK TIME EVENTS.
I can still go back and play it, but it just does not interest me enough.

-Final Fantasy XII , as soon as I turned on my PlayStation 2 and started playing this game I hated it.
Besides the sub-par graphics and ABSOLUTLY FRUSTRATING combat system, it was way to Japanese for me.

I'm not sure if Farcry and Okami count, but I didn't like them either.

I've never gotten into Zelda or Final Fantasy, I've only started playing both recently (WindWaker, Twilight Princess and the very first FF) just to see what the hype is all about but so far I'm not impressed.

I've only just discovered Mario and it's spin-offs. I'm really enjoying WarioLand 3 but i used to avoid all Mario-related stuff like the plague before.

I used to love COD when I had a X360 but decided to sell all of that and now concentrate of retro gaming. I played Gears of War 2 but didn't get anything out of it. Assassin's Creed I bought when it first came out before it achieved the hype it's gained now - it was nothing more than average.

I remember the excitement of receiving a brand new sealed copy of Goldeneye - all I can say is I wish I'd kept it sealed, at least it would have some value to me then.

I like Worms, simple strategy games (like Lego Battles), WWF, GTA and Pokemon and that's about it.

For me, Grand Theft Auto is the big one. Nothing about it is really appealing to me at all and I've never played it and have no inclination to.

Stuff I've actually played that I can't get into? Assassin's Creed 1. Had very little immersion for me and Altair's voice actor was kind of awful; love the rest of them though (haven't played 3). Also, pre-Oblivion Elder Scrolls games. I've played Arena and Morrowind and can't stand either of them. Bought a sealed copy of Morrowind GOTY on PC and that game is so very very broken that it's almost unplayable for me.

Other side stuff that I can't get into would include Battlefield, Counter-Strike, Gran Turismo, and I'm really trying to get into Deus Ex since the story is really catchy, just the gameplay in Human Revolution is... meh.

I have never gotten into the Pikmin series at all. I have been meaning to try again but when they were new, I thought I had better games to play.
My LPs Channel. Currently playing Legend of Zelda: Windwaker HD, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Resident Evil 2.

I have Pikmin 2 on the Gamecube and it is a fantastic game, super inventive and just fun. Expected from Miyamoto right?
