I'm 19 and I can't get into RPGs all that much. The only RPG that I like is Pokemon and the original Fable. With Western RPGs like Fallout 3 or Skyrim I hate the open world and enormity of the games. It really turns me off when I see that the average time spent on some of these games is 80+ hours. I don't have all that much time to dedicate to one game and I don't want to. I also just hate the way open ended games feel. I never feel a sense of accomplishment. With most JRPGs I just hate grinding and turn based battling and random encounters. It gets really monotonous and obnoxious after a while. The only way I can stand it is in Pokemon, because I love to complete the Pokedex and the random encounters are always another chance to find a new Pokemon that I don't have yet. Also FPSs I used to like Halo but I never had Xbox Live so I never played multiplayer. Now I suck so hard at these games. Online it's so difficult for me to play and I don't derive any enjoyment from it. I find online multiplayer in FPS games very boring after more than 20 minutes. Also there is now satisfaction with multiplayer. If you play for two hours it doesn't matter because it all just resets after the matches are over. There's no sense of progression in that. |

Any NON "Extreme" Sports game, CoD games, Fighters. More specifically (and recently) Devil May Cry. I bought the HD Collection to check em out. Got to mission 18 or so on DMC1 and have no urge to continue. Im pretty much an Action/Adventure/RPG person. I find it harder now-a-days to get into turn based RPGs |

I don't like FPS but I have to say I played the shit outta Wolfcastle 3D, Doom and Duke Nukem back in the 90's for the PC. Another exception was Golden Eye 007 that I totally love. For some reason I don't like CoD, Halo and GoW; I specially hate CoD because of the political background and US point of view on such delicate topics. |

lots of varied tastes in here! i cant think of any 'classic' games that i wouldnt like... as for modern series; 'assasins creed' played a bit of the first one and some of the mechanics of it annoyed me, it's like 'oh, i've just killed someone, now i have these guards chasing me, i'll just hide in this convienient rooftop garden/hideout thing, now they cant find me even though they're right there!', also at one point i was back in the lab, got out of the chair, had a wonder around, but couldnt find anything to do other than get back in the chair!, what was the point of that?, these put me off the series perminantly! 'elder scrolls' series, and similar 'open' RPG's, MMO's etc; tried playing both morrowwind and oblivion, just got bored wondering around not really doing anything and occasionally dying, pointless!, when i play an RPG i want to get engrossed in a story, feel for the characters and cheer when i beat the last boss! 'too human'; maybe im just too old, but i found this game really tough!, only played for about 10 mins. more or less dying every minute or so!, if thats the first level i hate to think how much worse it gets later! |

I'll add a personal observation about GoldenEye, since I do love that game, but don't really like any other FPS: Before Goldeneye, the FPS wasn't that popular, especially for home consoles. But I think because of Goldeneye's huge success, other studios tried to cash in on the game's popularity and now you see game after game that is basically the same but it doesn't have the character or originality of Goldeneye. I think this is similar to what happened with CGI in movies. Take Jurassic Park for example. Early 90s movie, CG dinosaurs. They looked great! So all the other studios and directors said, "wow! Look at what Spielberg did with computers, we could do something like that too!" But then you get movies that just rush to the finish and the quality is down. |
