..and my head is killing me.
On the other hand, I more or less got all my games and consoles into "Game Collector Pro"

I'll start putting condition specifics and current market values tomorrow. This is going to take days yet.

Don't have all my dupes in yet, but so far i have 427 games.

I just use the Backloggery....i don't see a reason to spend money on a program. Those funds could be put to getting more games.

I use Excel  ;D
Current count is slightly over 369, I did not add Madden games. I have a couple lying around for some reason. This also does not include PC games.

I like the program and will probably buy it at some point
but I'm not exactly using a legit copy
(I just got laid off a few weeks ago, pretty broke)

I'm getting pretty close to 500 games with my dupes. I need to get some trades going and/or sell some consoles (I have 7 first model genesis decks, 4 copies of sonic 2, etc)

@ larryinc64   I don't think I even own any PC games except for a copy of the first diablo somewhere :P

What is the reason that people do this?  I don't have any desire, and I'm just wondering why people do so.

I do it to keep better track what I have/want. Makes it easy for my friend to spot games for me too. He lives 5 min from a PnT....its an Hour+ drive for me. He just checks my Backloggery Wish list. I forget sometimes what I do and dont have. For the most part Im good, but there are a few that sound familiar and make me second guess what I think I know.

I too use game collector pro, however didnt pay. I had signed up years back when they had a promo where you tried out some partner's program you got it free.

The reason that myself as I am sure others do this is for simple inventory management. Also its quite neat to be able to look over your collection from pretty much anywhere. I used to be bad about updating it and couldnt tell you how many times I bought doubles or looked and found I didn't have a game I thought I did.

Given, my collection is getting a bit overwhelming for me, im over 1800 games now

@SNESGuy - Your more in depth than me, I don't list my consoles for I always felt it quite obvious if I have games for the system lol, that and I don't go in depth on condition and price as the prices fluctuate too much.

So I know exactly what I have. What if my house gets stolen or explodes, what would I tell insurance? I should probably take pictures of everything as well.

It's also nice to have everything organized, I also have my boxes, manuals and what-not written in. I'm a CI collector, and it's nice to know what I need to complete my collection without searching through every case, I only need 1 more Wii manual for Godfather Blackhead Edition to have every game CIB, I'm also very close with all CIB DS games. It helps with me keeping them easily alphabetized, and keep track of the total amount.

Here is what my DS list looks like:

RF Generation has a smart phone app, that is the main reason I use it.  Its nice having a list of my entire collection on my phone when I am out hunting.  And yes, before I started keeping everything cataloged I did buy a duplicate copy of a game here and there without realizing I did it until I got home.  Also, It helps keep track of what games I got complete or missing the manual (I care about manuals) etc.  Also, RF Generation is free.

For pretty much every other person listed.
Out of necessity I just had to move into a older home with pretty scary wiring, and in a pretty crappy neighborhood. So fire or theft are two possibilities.

Knowing a general value and exactly what I have would be nice, also if I would like to get insurance especially for my collection at some point.

After going threw I saw games I didn't realize I had, and didn't see games I thought I had, I'm also doing inventory on all my cable and accessories so I know what I can sell (have 10 total genesis decks, 5 NES decks, etc)

With over 2600 games, and the memory of a goldfish, it stops me buying too many dupes.

Also - since starting to collect in earnest, i realised just how many games i used to have, that are no longer in my collection - i don't know quite where, who, or how they went missing, but having them cataloged gives me peace of mind. (Although i am sure they were just lent to people and forgotten about either while the systems were current, or after i acquired a new system and lost interest in the older one, and now i don't know anyone that collects retro shit)

Im at 1800+ games and thats just stuff I want for certain systems. I cannot even fathom if I were to collect more systems and or most games for systems lol. (noticed your 199 games for N64, I have 78 and thats everything I could possibly even consider wanting for that system for example)

Hell, I think I have a few boxes of atari, intellivision, colecovision , prob like 200 games, as well as 20 or so SMS games, Those I dont collect for and are not even added or accounted for lol.

@shoothimnow - I like the idea of adding strat guides to game collector but doesn't it count under your total games list? Im sure anal about that # and it has to be 100% legit,I even deleted my PC titles whether they were digital or physical lol
