Title says it all, I have been contemplating making youtube videos, not mainly for video gaming but I was inspired by something I saw a while back on an advertisement where this father recorded a video journal and saved it all via youtube for his kid to grow old and view.

That said, if anyone could suggest best bang for buck whether its a handycam/webcam/flip hd etc.

Considerations -

- place i would be filming the videos would most likely have poor/uneven lighting
- price nothing over 300 preferably
- easy features as I am not video editing expert
- high quality sound/video

Thanks in advance!

Do not buy the cheapest...basically if its a blister pack, do not buy it. What would help if you are on a budget is head down to a thrift store or pawn shop and pick up a used unit, preferably one that uses SD cards as opposed to VHS or mini DVD. If you are just starting out, you don't need the best around because you do not know if you will be able to stay around on youtube. Look at who is popular like Spoony or the AVGN. Their first videos were not filmed in super mega HD in 10.1 audio.

Buy lamps, and use them to create adequate lighting.

Learn how to edit video (I use Sony vegas), specifically cutting and trimming...as well as color correction.

I use my Nokia 810's 1080p Back camera with a Gorillapod tripod and a lamp. I also have a rock band mic for 360 that works as a USB microphone and has solid quality for VO work.

I have a galaxy s3, which takes exceptional video just having lighting issues.

Keep in mind I don't mind spending more and I dont really want a "starter" camera as I plan to use this for family things as well as youtube on the side. Looking for the best of both worlds with a strong value

I don't think a cell phone is the best way to go.

Honestly, for youtube vids, any handheld camcorder with digital recording (flash or hard drive) will do the job.  Youtube is gonna re-sample the hell out of your vids, so it's not terribly important that you have something really high-end.
