So, working on these covers turned out to be more work then I anticipated. It's easy to make a cover in 15 minutes with a good scan. However, these scans have issues or the covers used to make the scans have problems such as sun fad. Sometimes scans above 600 dpi can produce moiré issues when down-scaled. For Batman Returns, I used a template provided by the site because I don't have a small grid template for Genesis. However, the gird was way off and not symmetric. I figured I could get these done quickly but it's going to take time. Sorry the Batman Cover isn't perfect. At some point, I mistakenly flattened the image and couldn't back track via history to fix it. So it has a few of my own mistakes. For what it's worth, Here's batman Returns. I'll work on the others next week.

what kind of moiré issues? i'm currently rescanning a bunch of old 600dpi stuff as 1200dpi instead, hoping it'll be hi-def enough to resolve any issues that may arise. but that comment got me worried. unless you're just talking about classic banding like this - http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1793253 (prevalent in pic #2) or the rainbowy wavy shit that looks like suits used to do on tv.

You have to remember that many of these old school covers where originally printed at 72 dpi. Moiré can be caused when downscaling because it's merging pixels; causing patterns. I noticed a bunch of these patterns while downscaling the Batman cover. I tried to use filters but there's only so much one can do. My personally advice is to keep scans between 600 dpi and 300 dpi. For me, it becomes difficult above 600 dpi.

Didn't know that.  Don't worry about trying to downscale.  I will try and rescan these over the weekend between 300 and 600 dpi to make them more workable.

too bad photoshop really doesn't have much at all to address moiré. and since they removed the twain import i'm starting to think they don't want to help anyone deal with scans of printed stuff.
