As per wiggy's suggestion, I'll do a quick review of the bootleg Mario and Sonic Game Boy games I recently acquired. I can't say where I got them, but you can pm me if you really want to know.

The first 3 multicarts contain several pirated legitimate games, however I was only interested in the hacked games created by the pirates. All 3 contain this game:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUPER MARIO 4, aka Super Mario Land 4

This game is a hack of Crayon Shin Chan 4, which I've never played. It starts with a very freaky Wing-Cap Mario rolling his eyes and twirling his moustache. The game has sprites ripped from Super Mario Land 2 and Mario & Yoshi among others. The platforming is kinda stiff. At the start, and upon getting a mushroom item, Mario shoots tiny mushrooms. He can also still jump on enemies. Another item makes Mario tiny, but lets him fly. Overall it's actually decent, though certainly crappy for a Mario game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3rd cart contains this game as well:

SUPER MARIO WORLD 7

I love these titles. Step back Super Mario World 2, make way for Super Mario World 7! This game is pretty much a sprite hack of Adventure Island II, with Mario instead. Pretty much everything else - the items, weapons, enemies, and even the dinosaur you ride are unchanged. It's funny they went to the trouble of replacing Mario but putting him on the AI2 dinosaur, when they could have just made it Yoshi. But I'm expecting way too much from a pirate bootleg game. Since it's really just AI2, it plays fine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bottom 3 carts have Sonic games. I remember seeing one back in the early 2000's at my local flea market and I was perplexed since Sonic was never on a Nintendo system, let alone on it's sixth entry.

SONIC 3D BLAST 5

This game is odd. It actually looks like it could be a Sonic game. They even tried to copy the Sonic theme, but it just makes your ears bleed. The controls are slow and sloppy, but it's almost playable. Almost.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SONIC 6

This is a sprite swap of Speedy Gonzales on Game Boy, with Sonic in his place, complete with Looney Tunes theme on the title screen. They also changed a few of the title screens and changed the order of levels so it now starts with one of the hardest levels first. It plays fine otherwise, though you can't jump on enemies at all. Maybe that's the way it was in Speedy Gonzales. What other game can you say has Sonic collecting swiss cheese in Mexico?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SONIC ADVENTUR7

This is a colorized update to 3D Blast 5. By update I mean travesty. As if it wasn't horrendous enough, the hackers decided that they needed to steal the opening animation to Sonic & Knuckles and beat it to death with a crowbar. The colors are eye straining, the music is very hard to listen to, and they rearranged the levels. Yeesh. I feel bad for anyone duped into buying this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm actually still trying to track down 3 more - Super Mario Special 3 (a poor hacked attempt to get the first world of SMB3 on GB, comes on a rumble cart for some reason), Sonic (Adventure) 8 (another rearranged colored version of 3D Blast 5/Adventure 7, also comes on a rumble cart for some reason) and Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space (essentially Super Mario Bros Deluxe with DK and Diddy swapped in).

Here's what they look like:

it reminds me of what Sonic would look like on the British microcomputer of the early 80's, the ZX Spectrum.

random game for example.
