Seeing as I have zero skill in making things via photo/paintshop, was curious if anyone was up to the challenge of making a custom template for sega master system games.

some ideas

-vertical style with uniform spine label
-white spines are fine, maybe lose the dumb grids?

I may try making a template for the system. Are there any game covers are looking for?

I am assuming that ideally you'd like a striped template so go with the other sega NTSC US templates
We already have
red genesis
yellow 32x
white saturn
purple game gear

that leaves us with perhaps green or black.  I cant imagine a green one looking very nice - i'll try something with black and see how it looks, unless you can come up with any other suggestions?

A dark blue like the grid lines of the cover art may work.

well - a quick mock up in black/grey could look like this:

i can try in blue, Grumbleduke already started converting to blue grid (without stripes) based on the brazillian releases, before he left us. (example here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=10957)

But for the record - i don't find the original ugly (only the later small grids, and the inconsistancy)

blue could be like this:

and a comparison

i'm actually really liking the blue

edit: but just remembered SEGA CD was blue in the US.  hmmmmmmmm

Yeah it's quite disgusting haha. Grey is about the only option I guess.

Hrm tricky color options, the grey doesnt look too bad. I look at like NES spines where it says "Nintendo Entertainment System" and wonder if that would be something that could be used on these, that style at least.

I am trying to look at it on what would be easy to make quick cases (at least for me as I give myself a headache every time I try using such programs) For example I went through and deleted all the extra layers on shenske's SNES vertical templet to where any time I find good raws or just some good custom artwork online I can fill in the spine, front and back, suppose this is made easy due to stuff like spine being solid color.

TBH That burgandy doesnt look too bad, maybe instead of contrasting with black a lighter/darker shade of burgandy or just the solid color

googled "master system red" found this

I need that t-shirt. Lol

The only thing I was afraid of was reds being too close to genesis, and burgundy being too close to game gear.

Tbh I am probably never going to use this template myself, as I keep saying I love the simple old SMS cases.  But I am happy to finish this up for others, and do covers in the template.

Maybe just the solid grey, not too dark?

we discounted green early, but it doesnt need to be like zomg grass green, maybe something lighter or even a teal-ish color?

@ Mel, essentially what I was looking for with your master system logo at top, something that looks uniform on shelf. Might could even make its own background so it doesnt overlay with case color

custom art ftw, I just would love to collect for the system but fuk me are the original cases an eyesore.

I thought that the grinds lines on the front and back of the Sega Master cover made the cover really dated.
