I won a Ebay auction for a Sega Master System a while back and the thing just arrived today.

And I think something is seriously wrong with it. First off I cant get it to work with the RF cable so after...  I try the RF cable with my Genesis and it works.  So its not my tv or the cable. So then I think might as well give the RV cable a try.  So i do and it comes on.. So I start playing some of my games. and Somethings wrong I just cant put my finger on it. Then I figure it out the colors are not displaying correctly.  White is sometimes black and blue is sometimes black.

oh and the RF plug goes in very hard.

I am just hoping that someone knows whats going on and knows how to fix it.

dont have much experience with Sega Master Systems, I never had one as a kid

What a coincidence I bought a Master System from Ebay a few days ago as well ^^ Unfortunately doesn't have any wires so I have to wait for those to arrive.

Any wire types you would recommend.

The internal RF modulator might just be toast, or it may be slightly broken off from the board.  Since it's so hard to insert eh cable, something tells me that it's the latter of those 2 issues.

Sega consoles often seem to have issues with crummy caps.  Can anyone confirm that this is a known issue with the Master System?  If so, that might be your issue.

The only game I don't have complete is Wonder Boy, but the rest I have are. I still want Outrun, Space Harrier and Shinobi for that collection, which will, out me at about 13 games.

I don't mind the game cases. Though I'm not terribly picky. I am upset though I missed by a few seconds the chance to get Phantasy Star for the SMS for £4.99

She's offering a refund if i send it back, but man the controllers, and gun are in nice shape. I hate to send them back.

but heck I paid 60 bucks for this thing.   I also love how sellers send you something thats broke and then want you to pay the shipping to send it back.

There is buyer protection on eBay to protect you from having to do all of that. File a complaint.

Try to use that only when all else fails, and communication breaks down.

I dont think I am at that point here, This lady probably just works at a pawn shop and knows nothing about games. the person who sold it to her said it worked.

Paypal has ALWAYS made me cover return shipping.  Unless this has changed in the last couple of years, then you're prolly stuck with return shipping.

Bingo. Thats what I have done in the past when I was sent a Pink GameBoy Advance SP for my daughter that smelled strongly of an ashtray when the seller claimed from a smoke free home.
