But the 3DS and 3DS XL is region locked, so unless you want to buy all your games in Japanese, importing is out...till they hack it. |

As I have both I must say the 3DS XL is a better buy if you are looking to take advantage of the 3d elements of the console. The effect is much better on the bigger screen and overall more comfortable of a handheld. However- if you are looking at something more pocket friendly and don't are as much for the 3d the standard 3DS is still great. |

My wife bought me a 3DS XL for Christmas, and I freakin' love it! I never owned an original 3DS (I heard about several issues with the hardware, including a design layout that causes the top screen to get lines on it over time), and I only recently expressed interest in getting a 3DS XL. It is a very nicely built system, and the screen is wonderful. I've already burned through Super Mario 3D Land in 16 hours, and have put over 40 hours into Resident Evil Revelations. Also, in case you are wondering, I went with the red model. I thought about holdig off until some more appealing colours were released, but I really like the red and don't regret it for a second! |

XL. Bigger screen, more comfortable, better build quality. Way better 3D slider and because it has a bigger screen the 3D effect is more...effective and does really look quite exceptionally good. |
