I had a regular when it came out then switched when XL came out and like it so much more. All the things that are better have already been mentioned by others so I won't repeat. For some reason though, I have been playing more often since I got the XL. It just feels better.

Cool.  Just about everyone agrees the XL is more worth getting for gameplay value.  I like it.  My only concern is what I said earlier which is if Nintendo is planning another release or update maybe at E3 this June.  No rumors regarding anything handheld at this point I don't think. Anybody know otherwise?

I don't believe so. I think they are planning to replace the software with a new version that completely utilizes the Nintendo Network and make that a big reveal and show off the 3DS-Wii U crossplay with the new Smash Bros.

I really wish they'd make a GUI for us adults that own one that doesn't look all cutesy.  I also can't stand all teh child-proof bullshit that I have to deal with every damned time I turn it on.  Seriously, why can't I turn that shit off?!  SOOOOO annoying.

Nintendo has always been family friendly, it is one of the things you have to take accept and live with. To me it all reminds me of one unified environment between it and the Wii/Wii U and that works.

I know they are.  It's no secret.  Still, doesn't make me like it any better and at least HOPE that they'll wake up and realize that a LARGE chunk off the gaming population are adults :-\
