Hey guys, so I'm planning on moving into a three bedroom apartment in the future and turning one of the bedrooms into a game room.

As I was looking at one of my possible future apartments today, the landlord noted that his place gets yearly inspections. Mainly to see if smoke detectors are working, but one of the things he mentioned was "crazy wiring".

If I have a entertainment center set up with a buncha things plugged in (HDTV, sound system, 10+ game consoles), how can I safely have it all plugged in to pass inspections?

And another thing, how can I have multiple portable chargers plugged into an outlet and still be safe? I noticed when I posted pictures of my collection here and on reddit, at least one person commented on my power brick (with GBA SP/DS/DS Lite/DSi XL/3DS chargers plugged into it) as being a fire hazard.

  • It's dangerous to go alone...
I use one of these bad boys (pic shows front and back view):

It has a switch for each outlet so you can turn off whatever it not in use. You'll be able to find one at a thrift store, but to be safter I'd just by one new.
I'm looking for vol. 2, 4, and 5 of the Orchestral Game Music Concert CDs. I'll pay well if it's authentic and doesn't skip. :)

I'm not a expert, But If you have to keep the systems unplugged, Plug multiple power chords into a power strip, but leave the strip off or unplugged when not in use. Less hassle when you want to play the system.

Any power strip really. They all have a switch, so just use strips and make sure to turn em off when not in use ;)

If there's carpet, just try and keep em elevated. I think I used to keep mine on top of a milk crate as a kid. Doesn't get more ventilated than that :P

You could also get a UPS, and connect a Power Strip (or the Power Selector pictured in the second post) into it,
so your HDTV and Game System won't turn off when you get a power spike, or sag, or have an outage.
