AV wire question.

My TV only has one Component/ Composite AV port on the back, It's ok, because my systems are not plugged in when not in use and not close to the TV.
It is pain to go behind the TV and change the plugs, So I wanted to get a short extension wire to the front so I do not have too.
So my question is are Component and Composite cables the same? Cables like this:
I'm fairly certen they are, but I have seen in Wal Mart plain Component cables (GBR, No audio) priced higher than Composite (YRW)
I was going to get a bunch of the cables below since the color does not matter, or at least a male to female converter, I think I got some spare cables, only where it is plugged into, and glue/ tape them into a small cardboard box and label them or something. Cheep.
Do cheep cables distort the picture?

Pretty close - they can be used interchangeably, but composite wires are of a smaller gauge and lower quality in almost all cases. If you buy component extenters, the colors dont matter - you can use them with any video or audio feed and you won't risk signal loss for component feed since they'll be a little thicker and better shielded.

actually there is no difference between Component and Composite cables.

You can buy either in "high" or "low" end. Nice composite/audio will be better than shitty component and vice versa. It's just that component video cables are typically a slightly heavier gauge than the super cheap composite because they are meant for "higher" end applications.
But there's absolutely nothing different in terms of functionality, especially in your instance.

So here is the plan, I buy 2 of the things above, can be bought on amazon for $2 with free shipping.
I will get a box and punch holes in it and hot glue the adapters in it. 3 of them will be used for video, the Green component is the yellow composite on my TV. The other 3 will be used for Left and Right audio and a Mono port for my NES, I need to figure out how many splitters I need to get the audio to work with both. I'm currently using a 2 female to 1 male RCA adapter on my NES and when it's plugged in it looks like a mess.
I'm planning on getting a NES 2 with a AV and True Stereo mod eventually, probaly after I get a job, so I could always change that port to a Atari 2600 port for the Coax to RF adapter I have.
I will probably use cheep cables now because I'm cheep, but I can always swamp them out fro better ones eventually.
also wile looking I found one from Amazon - "Usually ships within 2 - 4 months." ;D
