So, there is this new controller by Interworks. It's branded as a Wii U controller, but it's really a classic and wiimote in one.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/InterWorks-Pro-Controller-U-SNES-Wii-U-Wii-Nintendo-Wii/21977080

Everything you might expect (except for Wii U Pro Controller compatability), rechargable batter with USB port, switch to switch between wiimote or classic, another switch to emulate holding the controller veritcal (changes the dpad orientation), while still holding it horizontal, IR port for pointing, rumble and a speaker (only in wiimote mode). Also it has duplicate select and start buttons in the SNES configuration.

Sounds great! Problem is that it sucks. The dpad sucks as does the button config. I would prefer 1 and 2 to be mapped to Y and B, not Y and X. Wheres B and A are the wiimote's B and A. It's a neat idea, but Nintendo should have made this so it would be 1000% better.

So what I want to do is create my own, hopefully much better. I bought a classic controller pro and one of these:

The guts fit in the classic pro shell, but I haven't tested the remote's quality yet. It doesn't have rumble motors, so maybe those can be added?

The end result should be a wireless Classic Controller Pro, very similar to the Wii U Pro Controller, with pretty much all the options the interworks version has (minus duplicate start buttons), but with more reliablity and the buttons mapped as follows: Wii remote 1 and 2 = Classic Pro Y and B. Wii Remote B and A= Classic Pro ZL and ZR.

Something like that, if made correctly, would be great for Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Ratatosk).

Sorry I was in a rush (at work) when I first posted that, and the post has been updated. I did buy that Interworks controller from Target and returned it. Now I want to make my own. Just looking for ideas and advise at this point I suppose.

damn the thing looks ugly, like someone took a wii classic controller, and hotglued in a SNES controller. It doesn't even look that comfortable to play VC games on it.

luckily there are other options, like using an actual SNES controller via an adapter.

Yeah, I have one of those adapters, it's awesome. But the main goal of this is to be able to play Wii Remote only games (new Super Mario series, Kirby, DKC Returns) with a classic controller pro and also eliminating the wire.
